I've always wanted to make an official thread and I figured people are panicking like crazy like they usually do so I made this one.

I'd start but I think Im going to retake

I've always wanted to make an official thread and I figured people are panicking like crazy like they usually do so I made this one.

I'd start but I think Im going to retake

Well, I got a 2340, which I AM THRILLED WITH!!! However, this was also my first time taking the SAT and want to know if I should retake for HYPSM.

So guys… what do you think? I thought I was done, but.

Copy and pasting from another board…

I got an 1870 (680/500/690) – 10 pts higher than in January. I went down 10 points in CR, down 30 in Math (>,< it was already so low!!), up 50 in writing, and down 1 in the essay.

Superscored I have a 1910… but I really retook to get my scre out of 1600 closer to 1300. It’s still a 1220.

I didn’t study for either, so I guess I deserved this…

I’m definitely going to retake it! I was sick that day, and my scores prove it!

Rtgrove123 – Shut up, congrats and h*** no (can i say that?)

Rtgrove123, I would not suggest retaking (I also got a 2340second time for me though). Unless your scores are vastly deficient in some area and you’re absolutely sure you can improve, there’s little to be gained from retaking (with a score that high).

Rtgrove— hmm I’d say play rock paper scissors with someone. Since hypms admissions are pretty much random, only a completely random thing should decide your retake.

Lol congrats

Justaverage- if you didn’t study, then retake it imo. But don’t expect a significant gain without studying

so, in a reversal of fortune, I did really well in writing despite missing my essay’s conclusion, missed the 800 I was going for in math, and did… not as well as I’d hoped in CR. Funny how before the scores came I was telling myself writing doesn’t really matter as much, but now I’m not sure.

760M/650CR/770W

2180 overall

I’m sure I could do better (I know I could’ve studied more) in at least critical reading, but of course with retaking is quite a bit of hassle, as well as stress. for the June SAT, I was sick and had a bloody nose during so I don’t believe I was 100%, but I still question how much better I’d be able to (or have to) do. In terms of colleges, I’m looking strongly at Cornell (possibly ED) as well as some LAC’s - strong chemistry and physics programs - and I question whether or not the score I have is sufficient.

aluminum_boat – thanks for the response. I’m heavily considering it – in retrospect I should have studied but I guess I’m kind of against it and I was pretty busy with APs and end-of-school stuff.

dsjjfd. I’m so torn. I’m applying to UMCP, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and a super-safety for sure. I was thinking of applying to some reach-ish schools like Bucknell, and Lafayette and maybe even like William and Mary (OOS, no chance). But my family can’t afford these schools, so I’ll probably end up at SMCM. I had an interview there, and the admissions counselor said they only look at superscores =/

oh, and I still haven’t take subjects. I was going to do that in October.

^ that’s so similar to mine. I got 800m 770W 630 CR

I’m going to retake but I think if you’re not applying ED it would be less of a hassle. But since you are, I have no idea…

I guess it’s just dependent on how much you think you can improve… What a hassle I really wasnted to not study for it again

OKAY it was my second time taking this test. i got 2080 (710/680/690) and i am definitely retaking? (EVEN THOUGH IT’D BE THE THIRD TIME)

problem is: SAT II or SAT I first? i have t apply for college this fall!!!
october for SAT I?
november for SAT II? (in november i will be taking the a levels, um it’s the most important exam in my life cos i use it to enter local universities in my country)

CRAP and my scores are going to look really terrible when collegeboard sends them to the universities that i’m applying to (ie i got 1950 in january, 2080 now)

I would definitely take SAT II first. If you do worse than expected on the SAT II, you’ll at least have the opportunity to retake (even if it’s at the expense of not being able to retake your SAT I).

anyone else? i’m sooooo conflicted. my goal was 1900, so I half got that, half didn’t.

oh, and no place requires/recommends SAT2. I wanted to take them because I thought I could do well.

I AM RETAKING THE GODDAMN TEST… i got a 1780, an increase of 30 pts from the last SAT i took.

What an effing waste of $63. I am going to try out the ACT as well.

^^ at least it’s not TEN points like me.
ahaa, but still that sucks – I empathsize.

considering the ACT as well.

Okay I got a 1760 (540 Writing, 560 CR, 660 Math). Before you guys start to point and laugh, please answer a few of my questions. I’m planning on applying to UC Davis, and I was wondering if this score was good enough to get in. I know you gotta count the gpa and w/e, but is this score okay? I will retake it at least one more time (this was my first time). Btw, my cummulative gpa is 3.7 so far (junior year just ended). What’s my next step guys? I’m lost. And GREAT job on all of your tests guys. Everyone’s score looks impressive!!

Oh yeah, Davis claims they look at all 3 subjects, but is WRITING really that important?!

iProcrastinate – Assuming Collegeboard’s numbers for UC Davis are right, you’re good, imo. You’re right above their 50% mark (1750).

I got 2280! I’m completely thrilled.
1520 in the 1600 scale.
That’s in the range for HYPS, right?
I know I don’t have time to retake it for Stanford’s SCEA if I’m going to take two more SAT IIs, but I do have the possibility of retaking it one last time for all my other applications… Should I? What do you guys think?
I’d really love to break 2300, but I’m not sure 20 points is worth $45 bucks.

Do you guys think there is a kind of a ceiling you hit and cannot improve once you practice a lot? I’m not really sure whether I’ll be able to improve my score in October, from my June 2140 (cr 700, m 700, w 740. first time). I’ve done all Barron’s and BB practice tests and some of Gruber’s and CB sat online course ones. I’ve intensively practiced before the June SAT for two weeks.
Do you think doing more practice tests and learning vocabulary will increase my score? BTW I’m an international student, so I guess reading books and learning vocab might be more of a help to me in improving my cr and w than to a native speaker.

well i got 1750 last time in april and now i got a 1900 without really studying. Dont know how i pulled that lol. but my scores are 530 for cr , 690 for math, and 680 for writing. Math is my strongest section and i know i can get 700+ because on review tests i usually got 720. My critical reading section is my weakest and even if read alot over the summer i dont think it will improve. And for my writing section last time i got 590 so i have no clue were 680 came from lol. i need your guys help if i should retake it in october or not?
