Oh man--I don't know what is going on with these adcoms...I've heard of so many outright REJECTIONS this time around that I am definitely in shock!! How can so many people be deferred? My friend goes to Andover, he applied to penn ED--he got rejected and he had three 800s on SATIIs 3other SATIIs 750+, 2290 SATs (800M-710CR-780W), he established his own hedge fund (SkyLark Global LLC), a charity that spanned across 20 high schools, and many other amazing things! All I have to say is ***...I am sincerely worried about the RD round; I can only wait I suppose. Good luck to all of you--despite what stanford might decide, I think you're all awesome, and 'tis true, you will end up where you're meant to be =)

General Comments: Frankly, I'm suprised, but I'm not too bummed. I actually might be happier that I got rejected than deffered, because at least I know and I can move on. I just wish I knew why I was rejected (e.g. essays, scores, etc.)**

I think deferrals are the outcasts of the college admissions world. We aren't in, we aren't out. Can we maybe get our own "Stanford 2010...maybe" forum?

accepted!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm going to sleep.

Congratulations to all those accepted. Those deferred, keeping going strong and same to those who didn't make it. I'm applying RD and now scared as ..... Around 10 to 15 people from my school applied EA (probably about 15 more of us applying RD), and I know of one rejected, one deferred (legacy...), and one acceptance. The acceptance shocks me, scares me, and gives me hope. The girl admitted has a 4.0 uw, but isn't in full IB, so weighted rank is probably around 20/336. She's a capitan of the three time state winning dance team, and I really didn't think she had a lot of extracurriculars besides volunteering. She's smart, but has to work really hard. I'm not sure how big of an influence it had (maybe tipped her in), but her family is LOADED. I think she is somewhat unique, though, because she is the popular hot girl, but she is smart. You'd never know it by looking at her, but she is. Anyways, I'm curious to see how other's from my school and on CC did.

RD is gonna be crazy.

Getting into a school is not about intelligence -- everyone here is obviously a genius. It's about a fit. It's better to find out now that you don't fit into Stanford than 2 years and $100,000 later.

It's like dating an Armani model, getting married, and finding out that the relationship wasn't going to work out after all that emotional and monetary investment.

Although I'll probably be hanging from my ceiling fan tomorrow, when I get my rejection letter from UChicago.

(please don't flame me)

Duuuuuuuude, if it was an Armani model, I'd stay married for the play and the discounts on the clothing.
