Hook (if any): I have a patent pending from this internship I did over the summer. Guess that wasn't enough though.
State or Country: MA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Other Factors:
General Comments: IDK, I didnt think I would get in but I also didnt think it was impossible. I was expecting a deferral but it still stings a bit. I suppose my chances are alright for the RD round, and there are other schools, Stanford wasn't my first choice, I dont have one, I just applied early because I had the option, so in that sense I'm sure other people deserved it more because Stanford means more to them. I havent even seen the school. Congrats to those who got accepted.

haha, there is really no discernable difference in stats of those who got rejected, accepted and deferred. it's all so random.

Took the words right out of my mouth, strawberryfields. I had a question for all you SCEA kids, is it okay if one of your recommendations is from a 10th grade teacher (I posted this somewhere else too, but I just wanted to gut your guys' opinion)? Thanks.

they recommend it not be, and if it is to use it as your optional reference rather than a teacher reference

Hey, I applied RD, but I just wanted to say congratulations to all of you SCEArs who got in! Wow! You must really be unique enough for Stanford to accept you. For those who didn't get in, don't lose hope. There are plenty of other schools without Stanford's name but still just as good where you can succeed! For those deferred, good luck in the RD round. We'll all need it.

ares153 speaks my mind.

to Os650: I did EA and I really wanted a letter from a sophomore teacher - so i made him my optional reference. it must've worked out, 'cause i got in. it's a really really fan-freaking-tastic feeling and you will know soon so don't lose hope. that goes for everyone.

i was crying and going crazy logging into the user account, and I was so sure I was getting rejected or deferred. but stanford's an amazing place - and they really care more about personality and diversity than just a 2380. [see stats above somewhere] I have never been this happy in my freaking life!!!! I love Palo Alto Redwoods!!!! I'm a tree!!!!

In comparison to every other ivy + MIT, you guys have so many more rejections. They all seemed to go deferral crazy and stanford not so much...

I got deferred and my stats suck!
2090 SAT
740 US Hist, heres the killer 640 Math 2
GPA: 3.97 UW 4.64 W
EC:
Tennis, Speech and Debate All-American, CA State Champion Presiding Officer, FBLA, Amnesty Int'l club president, editor in chief of school newspaper
My goal was just not to get rejected and seeing some of the stats of some of the ppl who got deferred, i'm honored.

Stanford always has a lot more rejections, their policy is if you apply early, you want to know early, so they do their best to tell you rejected or accepted. Of course I still found a way to get deferred, but w/e. I wonder if the percentage of admits for deferreds will be high because it isnt easy to get deferred.

nope... ares... site said last year was 10%... which is lower than RD
