-Play your favorite tunes while studying and whatnot.
-Stay off of CC. lol
-Reading a book tends to get me into study mode.
-Plan before do.
-DON'T GO ON YOUTUBE, CAUTION: CONSUMES YOUR LIFE

Don't go to Wikipedia.

Avoid the internet. Period.

catch 22 ftw

-- Lock yourself in a room, with only a telephone. (Preferably a land-based one, so you won't be tempted to call your contacts.)
-- Give the key to someone you trust. Tell him he's only allowed to let you out after you call and say you've finished your work.
-- Finish your work.
-- Enjoy.

There are less extreme solutions. But this sounded fun! :D

impossible to do, its senior year

yea the youtube one is definitely true. you watch one video thinking "ok, after this, its homework time" and then, out of the corner of your eye, you notice a video on the scroll thingy that looks cool so you click on that. its a vicious cycle. before you know it, 2 hours have gone by.

I think im the only teenager who has never got warped in the vicious you tube cycle. I've only ever used it a couple of times! I need to procrastinate more!

Schedule stuff is the key
say you won't do anything at all between like 3 PM and 5 PM except HW. don't even go near a computer (unless you need it to do HW) until your HW is done. ive also done work ahead of time or let it collect and just spending all saturday morning doing work. works for me. if you're really serious about productivity, start reading Lifehacker.com and get yourself a copy of "Getting things done", 43 folders, Hipster PDA, all that good stuff. Ironically i procrastinate by looking up ways of being more productive.

Play something that's not too catchy or you'll start thinking about the song rather than your work. xD

Playing music will get you distracted not the opposite.

PLAN OUT YOUR DAY. nuff' said.

If you play something too catchy, next thing you know, you're SINGING it, rather than doing your work.

I like the lock yourself in the room idea lol! I used and still procastinate a lot some my mom made a rule that I had to be off the computer by 11pm M-F. It worked for awhile but I found other ways to procastinate unfortunately. Also, don't go on Facebook. That is the biggest distraction for me, because once you click on one profile, you click on another until you've realized that two hours has gone by.

haha that's so classy - i got the same problem

Music DEFINITELY hurts me. I work way slower (if I work at all) if I have music on.

I'd say to stay off of AIM.

"Ironically i procrastinate by looking up ways of being more productive." Woohoo I have exactly the same problem. I have all sorts of NLP self-training recordings on my MP3 player. And I tend to "waste" time learning how NOT to waste time. I have lots of college lectures on my MP3 (downloaded from The Teaching Company). Listening to them puts me in intellectual mood. But sometimes I let myself carried away by some philosophical problems in the lectures :D

This thread hasn't been deleted after making that ALARMING (!) statement! I'm utterly surprised! and this thread has been further featured! woah!

my tip: say to yourself, "I either do it now or do it later with more anxiety and most importantly Sleep Deprivation..:D..." Emm..my heavy courseload doesn't give me much chance to procrastinate!

it's definitely stay off the internet.....
