The Official UCB Fall of 2014 Decisions Thread

@GreatestThe I too got rejected for biz econ with a 3.95.

:( that’s really sad to hear about the shooting, i went through something similar with the DC sniper when i was younger but not as bad as you with it actually happening in your school. anyways your successful businesses is definitely a plus and UCB will take that into account. honestly i think thats pretty unique and may set you apart from the rest :slight_smile: as for spring acceptances, i think its only for certain majors and unfortuantly i dont think haas has any that qualify. also you can always appeal to UCLA but not sure how successful it is

@moon9kittie‌
Thanks for all the summer session trick info before. I think I’m officially in!!!. Instead of just seeing the cost of attending, I see the all financial aid on a page similar to the one from LA, SD and SB.

@mrudnick what the hell man. so confusing…

@loyshi what’s the trick for berkeley? please share…

@Loyshi‌
Is there some trick going on? Can you explain what it is? I can’t find moon9kitte’s post. lol

@marcuscolon‌ @GreatestThe‌
Here’s the original submission to the trick:
<a href=“Berkeley Summer Sessions Trick - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1100141-berkeley-summer-sessions-trick.html</a></p>

It’s a bit too late to trick implementing the trick. It takes about 10 days for berkeley to process and give you a Calnet ID. Like i mentioned before, if you have a Calnet ID already, you can try it too.

@ocnative‌

lol

I’ll go to UCLA’s transfer day for sure and possibly their Black Bruin day because, well, I’m Black. Ethiopian, anyway.

How about you? Does Berkeley have an event for accepted transfers If so, will you go?

@bookham yeah. Well there was a shooting, and my grades suffered greatly. Then I took a break. went to CC and kicked ass. Could they have maybe made a decision on my awful grades prior to CC?

@GreatestThe‌ Well if the grades were before CC like in high school and you are a junior level transfer, then no they cannot hold that against you. but if it was during university or a different cc or something, then yes they can unless you had your grades removed/not held against you by academic renewal

It was university in canada. then I stopped for a year and a half. went to CC in the US.

@GreatestThe‌ hmm… well thats tricky cause its an international school… Unfortunately i think they can hold i against you. if they deny you because of that, you can appeal and explain about the shooting correlating to the bad grades and it may be grounds for a reversal. However im not too sure for your case sorry :frowning: so you should take my advice with a grain of salt as i am merely another transferee and not an expert

@Loyshi‌ Thanks for the info. I better just wait. :)

I’m a little late to the game here, but I figured I would come comiserate with y’all. These last 6 days are going to be excrutiating. I applied to UCD, UCSB, UCLA and UCB. Heard good news from all except UCB…of course. I’ll try to accept going to one of the other schools gracefully, but I really freaking want UCB. Ugh!!

@calhopeful14‌ yup same here, got into UCI, UCSD, and UCLA, yet id be heartbroken if i get rejected from UCB cause its my absolute dream school. As for the next 6 days, unfortunately my OChem class was cancelled for the week (never thought id be sad saying that lol) so ill probably try and occupy myself with my other 2 classes and brushing up on my Japanese/Chinese/Spanish so i don’t forget it.

@Cayton, thank you! I’m still nervous for next week but at least I’ll be surrounded by friends on Friday so if I get a rejection its okay because I will have them there for me :slight_smile: I know someone who works for UCSF med school, and he told me that nearly half of the class that gets in are from Berkeley and the other half come from Stanford, and the other Privates and some UCs… But it just feels so great to have gotten accepted into UCLA the other top UC so if I don’t get in, UCLA will definitely be where my heart is going to be :stuck_out_tongue: Man you should way until next friday, I still have hope you’ll choose Berkeley over LA lol :slight_smile:

@ucastell‌

That’s great to hear, man! But to be honest, I’m 95% certain I’ll file my SIR with UCLA unless Berkeley decides to give me way more money or something.

But I know you’ll get in. :D

@Bookham‌ ahahaha I think an Ochem cancellation is still a cause for celebration :slight_smile: I can’t imagine taking that class. Most of my friends are chem or bio majors and have taken it but I’m history. Thank god. I like science, but not that much! Liberal arts all the way :stuck_out_tongue:

I just tried to re-read my application essay because I am that freaking anxious. It didn’t help. I probably should have taken more than a day to write it. I’m pretty sure I sounded like a robot. 6 more days of purgatory…

@Bookham, did you go to cal day? Upper division classes for MCB are very small (50<) so that’s a plus. Also my physics based calc 2 professor works at Berkeley, and he told me that even though Berkeley is extremely hard during the first two years (getting rid of people). The last two years aren’t as bad, because the curves are for the most part more generous, so instead of harming you curves will help your grades :slight_smile: I hope we both get in… Did you apply as MCB or IB?

@cayton, well hey I’m 5% hopeful you’ll end up at Berkeley haha Never lose hope haha. Thank you, the last six days are going to be very stressful, I just don’t want to get my heart broken haha.
