The Official UCB Fall of 2014 Decisions Thread

@Loyshi‌
I mean the uc web is <a href=“UC Admission - Apply Online”>http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/apply-online/</a>
I applied to schools with new email for my 2014 uc application so I am wondering if my old calnet id is still working to see if I am in or not at calcentral.
I do not remember to sign up for https://net-auth.calnet.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/krbcpw?NewStudent</a>
Since calnet id was not made automatically, I would sing up after I got admitted in 2012. Now I could not remember it exactly.
Do you think that my old calnet id is still working to find out the good/bad sign at calcentral although it’s been 2 years and I applied to UC web with new email?
Well, anyways, I cannot login to telebears with this id. . .

I applied to UCSD with a different email and even a different name (my legal name changed since I got my citizenship), but when I access my admissions page, I still get a drop down list for Fall 2012 and Fall 2014. Interesting stuff. @happy123all

@happy123all‌
If you haven’t gone thru that page, i don’t think what you have is a Calnet ID. Is the Calnet ID that you think you have all numbers? If yes, that’s most likely not a Calnet ID.

there was someone with a deactivated ID getting reactivated since he got in.

Is Berkeley as strict as other schools when it comes to completing major pre-reqs?

I have 3/4 done/in-progress for my major (Economics) and I can do the 4th during summer but I didn’t mention it as “planned” in the “myapplication” website. It was my fault for rushing through it and not reading carefully but I wanted to know if they sort of auto-reject people if they’re missing a pre-req like UCLA does or if they’ll give you a chance to finish it during the summer.

Hey I’m so nervous about Berkeley Decision.
My GPA is 3.75 with Political economy major.
I have one prerequisite doing in progress and the rest are done. Had 2Ws in Communication class and PE class. What are my chances? My ECs are tutoring, volunteering, manager at Non-profit organization, Immigrant, work 28 hours a week, a member of Phi theta kappa and MESA, TRIO. I got accepted by UCR, UCD, UCSD, and UCSB. Chance me guys! nervous mood :OOO

@FCrane‌ I think you still have the chance but prereqs are important as you know. Also, economics is so hard major to get accepted i guess. Just wait the day … who know?

@kio3063 yeah, Econ is very competative. and you’re right, can’t do much but wait

Major: Computer Science
Pre-reqs: only one class left, done by this semester.
GPA : 3.96
Accepted by: UCI, UCSD, CSULA
Pending: UCR (asking for supplemental documents), UCB, Cal Pomona.
Rejected: UCLA, CSUF, CSULB (waitlist).

My goal is to complete my 4 year degree, so whatever UC accepts me, I will go there, because anyway, my real school is, and always be, Google. I truly care about my skill, not my school, so if tomorrow UCB rejects me, that’s okay, because true student nowadays doesn’t rely on school too much anymore.

KEEP AN OPEN MIND you guys, UCB or UCR or UCLA is just a school, it’s up to you whether or not you work hard and heartfully care about your future. Keep following your dream, anything else is secondary (Steve Jobs).

Hope you guys feel a little bit better. keep calm, this is NOT the end of the world. Remember you only live once, so don’t waste your energy worrying about this decision. Just imaging you’re rejected, so what will be your next step ???

Best luck! :smiley: :smiley:

@FCrane‌ Good luck! [-O<

@KobeBryant2014‌ great advice (though easier said than done in my case :slight_smile: ).

You have a great gpa and a good mindset, so I’m wondering why you got rejected from UCLA.

Did you finish all their requirements (physics, chem, etc. )?

Btw, I hope to work at Google one day too!

@ocnative Cool, I live in Newport myself. I’m still trying to figure out where I want to go… It’s tough. I like the weather down here better, and UCLA is just an hour away from us. But I have a feeling I would fit in better at Cal. I’m planning on visiting both, assuming I get into Cal, before I make a decision.

I got the email about scholarship that some pp got and others didnt.

They said:
Thank you for your email. The invitation to apply for The Leadership Award through Cal Alumni Association has no bearing on admissions status. The invitation was sent to any applicant who indicated on their UC Berkeley application that they would be interested in learning about scholarship opportunities.

I would encourage you to review the eligibility criteria on our website, and if you meet the requirements, please apply for the scholarship. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

I’m applying to Haas. Can’t wait till Friday, but i don’t want it to come for that fear of rejection. Finally were almost done with CC though. Good luck to you all.

@Bigcityofdreams‌ Same here lol. Haas applicants share the same hardships right now.

So, if we checked the leadership in extracurricular activities box on the UC app scholarship portion, and did not receive the alumni scholarship email from Cal, there’s a chance that we’ve already been rejected? @Cayton care to weigh in here?

@kio3063

@‌Loyshi
Can you find the “@2014 UC regents” right next to Bekeley sign at the bottom on my dashboard when you log in to cal central? What can you see when you click the @2014 UC regents? Do you see the application version? It is a number though.

@iceburgzhang
@Bigcityofdreams‌
Also a Haas applicant; looking forward to Friday!

@Chitosiri‌ I was waitlisted by LA :frowning: which makes me kinda worried for haas at this moment.

@smashley93‌–according to Kio’s post, it clearly says the scholarship invitation “has no bearing on admission status.” Furthermore, I believe @Loyshi got accepted to Cal and never received the scholarship.

So don’t worry about not receiving the scholarship; it’s not a sign of rejection.

@iceburgzhang‌ what are your stats? Don’t let that decision get you down at all. UCLA’s Biz Econ/Econ looks for students who fulfill a certain criteria that is noticeably different than the criteria Haas looks for. UCLA values gpa above all else (avg Biz Econ gpa at UCLA is 3.92 vs 3.84 at Haas). As long as you have a “competitive gpa”, solid personal statements and ECs, you have a good shot at Berkeley. An acquaintance of mine got into Haas with a 3.5 gpa, great personal statements and decent ECs. Also remember, you were wait-listed at UCLA, not rejected.
