The Official *UF* Class of 2019 Results Thread

<p>As tradition states, every year there must be a thread where we, anxious prospective students, share our fates with others. Whether it's to not feel so alone, or just to see the competition, these are some of the most awaited threads on CC, as far as I can tell! I'm aware that it might be slightly early for this, as the results are only to be released in two months from now, but I'll be damned if those two months don't fly by like the last two months. I won't go off on a monologue, so let's get straight to it! You all know how it works, here's the template (copied from last year's):</p>

<p>Because of how early it's being posted, this thread might be dormant for a while, but I'll be dusting it off every now and then, provided no one comments. Deep breath, and here's to our future!
<em>cling</em></p>

<p>Anyone nervous yet?</p>

<p>Decision: Pending
SAT: 1920 (M: 640 ; CR: 640 ; W: 640) [[it’s a sign!]]
SAT IIs: N/A
ACT: N/A
GPA: Hm… Here in Brazil we have it differently and I’ve just had my grades converted. I believe I fall somewhere in the 3.4-3.5 range (unweighted. Weighted also doesn’t exist here, tough luck), but I won’t get my hopes up.
Rank: That concept is foreign here.
Other stats: 120 on TOEFL, but UF doesn’t ask for it. I have a nice smile too? I hear that counts, though my sources aren’t too credible.</p>

<p>Major: CompEng, or perhaps Aerospace Engineering? They’re both awesome, though I chose CompEng on my app.</p>

<p>Essays: I believe I did a fair job on my essay, I spent a few months working on it, and added some nice touches. I love teaching, and one day would like to be a professor. I made that clear in my essay.</p>

<p>Teacher Recs: “His accent is funny.” is probably the only recommendation I would get out of most of my teachers. Luckily UF doesn’t ask for them.</p>

<p>Counselor Rec: <em>Brazilian guy</em>: “i not understand, wat is da counselor?”
Hook (if any): Hmmm… International student but native English speaker, somewhat of a good writer, solid profile. First generation, though I don’t think that counts for us internationals.</p>

<p>Location/Person: Now that I look at this part, I wonder what she was talking about a year ago? My name?
State or Country: Sao Paulo, Brazil
School Type: Uh… Guys, the education system here is a bit… Different. Let’s just say a normal public school in the US, in terms of quality is about the same as a top private school here… I studied at a public school here. Take a wild guess on how that was like bwhahahah. I think I only had 6 chemistry classes my whole senior year. Man, that teacher really liked to take some days off…<em>rambling continues</em></p>

<p>Ethnicity: Hispanic, latino, caucasian? This won’t influence too much on the profile I’m afraid.
Gender: Male</p>

<p>Other Factors: Did I mention my smile? By the looks of my profile, it seems that’s the only way I might be getting in, xD. Who am I kidding, I’m supposed to be motivating you guys! Chin up soldiers!
General Comments: On a serious note… My SAT score wasn’t too much of what I had expected (which was a 2000+.) This makes the game slightly different… Slightly more-- dangerous, yet exciting! It was as if fate looked at me and chuckled, “You thought it would be easy, right? Stay on your toes!”</p>

<p><em>Bows</em> Best of wishes to all of you who are on the same boat as me!
Unless you’re also an international, in which case… YOU SHALL NOT PAAAASS.
No, I kid, I kid… O.K, I’ll hush hush now.</p>

<p>okay…i understand that you’re excited to find out your acceptance but decisions are not until february don’t you think it’s a tad early to be posting a results thread already?
honestly this is might add more stress to people who are freaking out over it right now when there is still well over a month left </p>

<p>Hey there vineyardvine, just hold on a sec…
<em>scrolls back up</em>

Ah, there, found it. </p>

<p>"[…] might be slightly early for this, as the results are only to be released in two months from now. […] this thread might be dormant for a while, but I’ll be dusting it off every now and then […]"</p>

<p>Add stress? You think so? I kindly disagree, pal. Coming to this particular forum, going to the UF section, opening up this particular thread, and jotting down thoughts could be a great way to relieve some of that anxiety, especially when so many people are on the same rollercoaster, wouldn’t you agree? I’ve personally seen tons of comments which provided very comforting insights and morale support (in my case, before the SATs). I think the true stress comes after the decisions arrive- when one contemplates why they were deferred or rejected, and frantically tries to figure a way around it. This thread does no harm to those who come here on their own accord, as you did.</p>

<p>These months pass quickly, way too quickly, for better or for worse. A thread like this would inevitably be made, a month before, 29 days before, 28 days before, etc. Does it make such a difference in the end? Tomorrow is one day closer- do you see where I’m getting at? Take care.</p>

<p>Totally agree with you AGoodFloridian, appreciate this man. Good luck to you and hope we meet someday at UF. GO Gators!</p>

<p>Well, gotta admit, this is why I am here. I am not even the applicant - my son is. Been a gator fan since he was 6. Kept the passion even though we moved to SC (even thought Spurrier was there…). Moved back 4 years ago and now we are waiting on 2/15… Good luck everyone. </p>

And with that, the final deadline has passed! I hope all of you had a fantastic holidays, and here’s hoping to great 2015!

February’s all the more close now. @Jman1234‌ We’re rooting for your son! It goes without saying you don’t need to put his stats up here for everyone to see, but it’d be awesome to know the decision when the time comes! Take care

Since I said I would, I’ll dust off this thread with an observation. University of Florida has a pretty active Facebook page. You always hear stories of how interacting with universities may help you down the line, right? Am I the only one who feels terrified to comment on any of UF’s posts?! I have already done so multiple times in the past, but with extreme caution and wording. One slip up and BAM, my name goes to the black-list!.. Right? Hahaha

If things are similar to last year then the contestants will be rolling in in about 2 weeks before the decisions come out. In any caasee, we’ve got one month people! I don’t know about you but it last month really flew by! I didn’t even feel Christmas and New Years D: .
One more month… You all better not leave me hanging here! Hahahaha!

@Jboon12345‌ I would humbly say a “bit” more likely than me xD…
You have a real nice shot, though if I were you I would calculate your UF GPA and see if it’s anywhere near 4.1-4.5. If it is, then the odds are really in your favor. Though, as you know, there have been people with your stats that have been rejected and accepted, as there have been with mine. UF’s unpredictability is, in some odd way, comforting. Or at least exciting.
Why don’t you put up your stats with the template?

Deferred from Michigan. I only applied there and to UF, so I’m getting anxious.

Good luck to all! Hopefully I get a merit scholarship!

What do you think of my chances? I have gotten into Florida State, Central Florida, and South Florida… but UF is my #1 choice. I’m getting really anxious.
Decision: Pending

Other Factors: I’ve been working part-time for an accounting firm since my freshman year, approximately 8 hours a week doing bank reconciliations, bookkeeping, and general office support. I have over 350 community service hours and lead two drives (1 food, 1 monetary) to go to fighting hunger in my community. I applied for Summer. Also for freshman year and the first half of my sophomore year, I was an average student… but I turned myself around during winter break and now I am a straight A student - I am hoping UF will like this sign of maturity and increase of my grades throughout my high school career.

High-five @alexfalcon96‌ ! I would say you’re the closest person I’ve seen in stats to me  Now, as for chances, well… Rubs chin Your ECs are decent, I would say, and the fact that you had an upward tendency is REALLY valued! If your SAT scores were just a tad bit higher, than I’d have more assurance upon saying your chances are real nice. They’re not bad scores, don’t get me wrong, but they do leave a questionable amount of uncertainty, but hey, that’s part of the fun! Imagine how boring it must be to apply to UF with an SAT of 2390 and an UW GPA of 4.0! ^^…

Gotta be light-hearted with this guys, if not, your nerves get to you!

Status: Pending

Gender: Male

Other: Over 300 community service hours; dancer, singer, and actor; and a part time worker. I also draw, play piano, and guitar in my free time.

Just a little over two weeks remaining now, but do I really need to remind you all?! Of course your eyes are glued to the calendar just as mine are! A big thanks to those who have already posted their stats- I believe the others might start showing up either two weeks before, or even after the decisions have come out (which was predominately the case of last year’s)

Just like last time, I want to leave a little question to wrap this comment up. I was thinking about creating a thread (or even a continuation of this one) displaying our essays, whether we pass or not (it shouldn’t matter). I feel it would be a great service to those who are applying to the next Fall term, don’t you all think? I personally wouldn’t mind sharing my essay now that the decisions are on their way. There was a thread like that but it didn’t get too far. Just a suggestion though, we’ll see how everything goes in due time.

AP Scholar with Distinction
Took 2 APs in 10th, 3 in 11th, and all APs this year
The rest of my classes were honors
My grades freshman-junior year are all As, three B plusses, and absolutely 0 Cs, Ds, or Fs which UF really cares about
Legacy of cousins and both of my parents
Mentioned how I have visited on many occasions, also interacted with admissions twice on social media and once through email after a guidance counselor from UF spoke at my school
Good essay and supplement
Also my school is very big as you can see from my class size & my counselor is very familiar and communicative with UF, she is pushing for me as a student who really likes to go and would be a great fit
I’ll be really disappointed and surprised if I am not offered admission.
What do you guys think?

Wow, I would just like to say… Major props for the people who created profiles just to post their stats up here, thanks guys!
@2015babygator‌ … I would say you’re a foot in man. Good GPA (do they really calculate it to the point like that in the US? Even to the ten-thousandths place?!) above average ACT, excellent ECs. You’re almost the poster-boy for the accepted students at UF, in my point of view. Of course, it’s never smart to let your guard down, but let’s just say these final days shouldn’t be too anguishing for you.

@SoFloGuy‌ You know, I can’t be the only one here to think this, but from what I’m seeing so far, we have some -very- qualified applicants, and I’m not just saying that to keep your chin ups, seriously, I haven’t seen one truly “iffy” person as of yet!

General Comments: How are my Chances?

I’m sure most of you have seen this already, but it’s always good to look in retrospect!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-florida/1612502-class-of-2018-results-p1.html

For the people wondering about their chances, what better way than to look at the ones who were accepted last year?
