daughter and all her friends were accepted and got both housing emails today. Someone explain the difference between Fall and Summer B. My daughter only applied to Fall.
How long does it take for the UF group to accept you lol
@lisaol summer b is an optional mini semester that everyone that goes to UF has to participate in eventually (I think). It’s all personal preference. Some freshmen prefer it so they can get acclimated to the school before everyone else comes. I also was accepted for the Fall term. I know someone who did summer b last year and had to leave June 20th! Not fun to miss your senior summer in my opinion!
@lisaol - students admitted to summer B start late June - it can give students a leg up for meeting the summer graduation requirement and getting to know the campus before fall semester starts.
Rejected. What do I do with my life now?
Accepted: As an out of state student will have to see if it is affordable. Was pleasantly surprised, not sure I would get in…
@AGoodFloridian Oh okay, thanks.
Really Important, can anyone help?
So I applied January 29th. This is the message I got when I logged into my gator link just now:
""The Office of Admissions has completed a preliminary review of your application for admission.
Please look at the tables below to determine whether your application file is complete. Missing materials can delay your admission notification. If you have recently sent these materials, please allow processing time, especially around application deadlines; materials sent by regular mail take a minimum of two-to-three weeks’ processing time. Check your application status as often as you need to verify receipt of materials.""
Then it lists all of my materials, and next to each it says “received.”
Then the page says, “If your file is complete, your decision will be available the second Friday in February after 6:00 pm.” So I’m really confused…my file is complete, so is my decision coming later?
UF doesn’t give out much scholarship money!
@15batesk the only people who got their decisions today are those who applied by the November 1st deadline. anyone who submitted application material afterward is given admission at a space available basis, which is much more competitive.
My daughter started in Summer B and loved it. It is a “shorter” semester than fall and spring. My recommendation would be to take easy required classes…it is a great way to get to know the campus and adjust being away from home without all the other students being there. My daughter, who is a junior this year, met her best friends there during the summer. I believe UF requires a summer semester so why not get it in the beginning. If by chance you were accepted for Summer B…you must attend. You would have to request to change it and I heard that is hard to do.
You will receive an e-mail. Reply ASAP because when you turn that in along with your deposit it reserves your place in line to sign up for housing. Signing up for housing takes place later in the year. If you know who you wish to room with if they have an earlier sign up date than you do they can “hold” a place for you as long as you supply their student id that you will be assigned. Rooms go fast so have a lot of different ideas of where you wish to live. I highly recommend living on campus your first year so you get to meet a lot of people and you are close to everything. Parking is horrible for freshman so get a bike or scooter.
