Congrats to all who got accepted! Go Gators! does the gator chomp
Just received another email from UF with an invite to apply to the Honors program. Seems like it has some nice advantages. Good luck to everyone.
The honors application seems so UChicago-y. I’ll pass lol
Welcome Baby Gators =D>

@Gator88NE I’m confused. Who is the “old class of 2015”? Is that the high school graduating class of 2011?
@Gator88NE I am confused too. Seems like the application and admission process is getting more competitive for all schools these days, yet what you posted indicates that the admission standards at UF have dropped. That is hard to believe.
I found a great graphic and now you’re making me do homework
The “old” class of 2015 are folks that should be graduating this year (if they complete in 4 years) and is made up of folks that were admitted in 2011. See the below thread of a discussion on the stats, from back in 2011.
Total number of applicants: 29,269
Total number admitted: 11,423
Percent admitted: 38% (an all-time record low)
Mean GPA of admittted students: 4.30
Mean SAT score of admitted students: 1963
Mean ACT Composite score of admitted students: 30
The admit rate was MUCH lower in 2011 (38%). It’s around this point that UF started to look for ways to get more students admitted, while not overloading the faculty and facilities. Innovation Academy is one example, and now PaCE is another.
2011 was a HARD year for admissions…

Reflection
Strengths: A lot of AP classes (4 junior year, 4 senior year), EC’s, GPA, Community Serivce
Weaknesses: SAT (pretty bad in reading/writing), AP scores
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I’m pretty much exceptional in my school, high GPA, leadership roles, and a lot of community service. I work A LOT to support my single mother and 3 siblings. Also, I included that I speedcube in my application, attended the National Championship in Las Vegas, and taught my skills to many of my peers. I’m not to sure about my test scores. My SAT’s were okay, but there’s a big gap between the math and everything else. I’m not sure if they thought my scores were outstanding or peculiar.
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: I was rejected by MIT during early deicision (probably were my test scores).
General Comments: I’m definitely attending UF. I knew I would get accepted considering everyone kept telling me I was more than qualified. However, I wouldn’t say it’s easy because many of my classmates who had similar profiles like mine were rejected. I’ve heard UF is becoming more selective but it is a great university and I can’t wait to attend!
Does anyone know what Roomsync is and whether it is helpful in the roommate-finding process?
I’ve heard good things about RoomSync, a student at UF even recommended it for me. It’s a facebook app, but apparently we need a “RoomSync” ID which is issued to us sometime in the future after we’ve finished our housing contracts.
Please check out my post!! Help!! Prospective student here!!! (Hopefully)
My son did not get in to UF…he will be attending FSU…good luck to all!
Got the official letter today
