I agree, but let’s at least count our blessings since UNC hasn’t seen a 42% application increase! I feel so bad for UChicago applicants… {Actually, I think we’re also lucky that they don’t use the common app, this seems to decrease the growth rate of applicants}

^ I have no idea why people love the common app so much, it has given me nothing but trouble, so I agree that we are lucky that UNC still uses their own application.

I love the common app; I think the problem lies in whether or not you have to change your essay/info for each school. I definitely liked the UNC app over the Common App though just because it was easier to write all of my ECs with their method. But the independent UNC only app does help cut down on the application pool because it eliminates a lot of people who don’t really care and just add UNC because it’s easy to apply.

ummmm I know I’m not getting in so I’m not exactly nervous… I looked at the stats of OOS students who got admitted last year (a thread from last year on CC) and they all have like perfect gpa and test scores.

So far, I’ve gotten the little coffee bean into the cup in seven bounces! It’s actually helping me stay happy and calm! I can’t imagine the time I’m going to spend on it on the 31st!

hearing people talk about FAFSA makes me very thankful that both of my parents are accountants and fill it out for me (: i just think they don’t trust me with financial stuff…hahah.

ah, i’m sorry. i think they realize that if they tried to make me do that, i would end up having to ask them the answers to 3/4 of the questions anyway. it’s all a little in vain though, since we qualify for like ZERO aid anyway…

All my friends say the usual “you’ll get in” while my parents have been telling me I wont get in, which is probably true. I think I’ll get deferred but either way I’m going into it with low expectations, hoping for the best.

^ Me too. I’m not quite sure my friends realize how competitive UNC is for out of state applicants, though, particularly considering that my GPA/test scores will likely place me directly in the “uninteresting” pile on the admissions desk.

They don’t know. Probably early afternoon. I wonder what they’re going to do about the RD kids. I bet they still haven’t figured out the kinks in their system, so I wonder if they’ll push the RD notification back, too.
