why doesnt freshman year count towards your gpa, and my GPA would be much closer to 3.9 if i re made it like that.

I don't know why they don't count freshman year. Probably because your not mature during freshman year. But if it makes your gpa jump like that... good for you! I would put you at a match if you have a gpa of 3.9 and almost 2000 sat score. maybe a slight reach because of you're OOS, but by demonstrating desire and writing great essays, you can get in.

umich gpa = soph + junior year. Not senior year. They'll take senior year into effect if they defer you or something. Sry bout that.

please rate my chances of getting into to u of m (i will definitely apply early action)... o and my essays should be above average to excellent and i should be either 1/2/3... maybe 4 out of about 250 students and last year's graduating class from my school had about 16 people go to u of m

also if there is any question of me being admitted, should i retake the act? i know i could probably get atleast a 31 maybe 32/33 if i studied, but i really don't want to retake it.

tayx63 - match for michigan. not probable that you'd get preadmit but you never know.

britbrat1961 - match for michigan.. what is MFA MT?

BobbyT12 - match, try going for a higher act (31+) to make it even more certain that you'll get in.

jobert - slight reach for engineering. send both scores in to make sure. They can't penalize you for one bad score when your other is good. Slight reach because your OOS and only have average gpa and sat. Write some great essays/get good recs. Yours ECs seem fine to me,

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): LSA; Ross PA
[ *] SAT: was not good...don't even remember what I got lol
[ *] SAT IIs (if sent): 780 bio M, 670 math, low french! [will retake math and will take US History in October]
[ *] ACT: 30 (32 math/reading, 30 english, 26 science)
[ *] UM unweighted GPA: 4.0
[ *] Rank: school doesn't rank
[ *] Other stats: 5 on AP Bio, 3 on AP Lit, will take AP Calc BC, AP Chem, AP Psych, and Maybe: AP US or Comp gov't, AP Micro, AP Macro (I can if I drop French 4--it's going to be a new teacher, and I don't think I would take the AP test anyway for it if I took the class...)

[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness: strengths: gpa, ECs, awards, difficulty of classes (toughest at school), weakness: my ACT is probably not high enough for PA @ Ross
[ *] Other Factors/questions: should I send in my application early to increase chances for PA? also, should i send in my SAT/SAT IIs, I don't want my low SAT and low French to hurt my chances. should I drop French 4? If so I can probably take another 2 APs...plus I never really enjoyed taking it? oh yeah, I have a twin (he wants to do pre-med though)!

sorry for posting this twice (I didn't see the official chances thread!)

I also forgot that by the end of September I should hopefully have around 150 hours of volunteering (hospital and library, mostly).

Sorry, I meant BFA in MT which is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. Apparantly it is possible to do a dual degree with Engineering.

ummy, animefreakss4, plz don't ask for "chances" if you have descent acts and 4.0s. Your definitely a match/safety. Apply early, for a head start in the application process.

as for a Musical Theatre/engineering degree, it is definitely possible, but will take a good chunk of your time.

j89, i only wanted my chances for Ross PA, I know that I have good chances for the LSA. I'm worried about the PA because there are tons of people that apply with even higher scores so that's why I posted my chances. sorry if i caused any confusion...

To have a chance at being admitted to Ross PA, you are going to want to have at least an SAT score of 2300 or ACT score of 35. Your gonna also want to write some kick-ass essays.

j89: sorry, i didnt mean to sound like a prick. I'm just new to the whole thing and i truly did not know at the time if U of M was a safety or a reach or whatever.

h89, are the test scores really that high? I know a few people who got into Ross PA with lower ACT scores...

If you have a lower SAT or ACT score, then you better have helluva hook...
