***The official University of Michigan Chances Thread:***

how late is late? are you guys saying after the feb. 1 deadline?
cause i could see that, or are you saying after the early admission deadline? cause that would really suck.

also u of m says that they do not rate early admission applicants any high then regular admission applicants (from the uofm website) is that true?

Applying late would be anytime after October. AQnd students who apply before November generally have a better chance of getting in than students who apply in or after November.

Hey Alexandre- since you're here. Can you tell us some about merit scholarships if you know about them?

ok alexandre i live instate and i have a 4.o unweighted (have taken all college prep classes, ap classes-the best my school can offer) when recalculated by u of m, but only have a 27 on the act with english and math both being 30. i was gonna take the act in sept and prolly get a 32+ (the 27 was a bad test, i could prolly get a 34/35 if i studied) and i was wondering if i send in my app. after i get my act back or send in my app. and have the act sent in after the test. i think that would be best but i want them to see my new act score. please explain.

and also along with the other person what about the merit scholarships?
i've heard you get x amount of money for a certain score on the act, could you elaborate more?

you send your app right now anyway and put down that you are retaking the test. if they can admit you with a 27 they will and if they can't they will wait for your new score to come in before giving you the decision.

People with 2300+ and 35+ ACT's asking what their chances are are purely pathetic.

Excuse my honesty, but when you're in the 99th percentile you shouldn't be asking for your chances at Michigan, or anywhere else really.

btw it doesn't matter what ECs you have as long as you have them.
but with your scores your in.

Really? Down here, just having a high ACT/SAT score is not a guarantee to get in anywhere - at least, that's what we're warned.

micah, a 4.0 unweighed GPA and a 36/36 ACT score will generally guarantee a person admission into Michigan. Of course, one must fill the application properly and send it in completely as early as possible. But such stats generally result in admission at Michigan...and at most universities other than perhaps HYPSM and Caltech.

Basically, I've taken all of the hardest courses offerred at my school, all of them are PreAP/Honors/AP if possible. I'm a registered Native American, Cherokee tribe, yay minority status. I'm planning on being a Cognitive Neuroscience major, PreMed as well. I suppose it will probably have to be Neuroscience with a minor in cognitive sciences, but close enough. I'm also working very very hard on my applications, I already have almost all of it done, and I'm going to refine my essays for the next couple months.

ZFanatic -- With your ACT score and GPA you're more than likely in.

but lol, cherokee. everyone's a cherokee.

Pseudovirus, I don't see what's funny. If a good student (like ZFanatic) can prove that she/he is more than 1/8th Native American, most universities will admit them and some will give them hefty scholraships.

why did everyone skip me?!

Race: Indian, 1st generation immigrant (not that this would help... )

However, not everyone is about 1/4, and actually enrolled in the tribe. You could be full blood and it would be worthless if you're not enrolled. Gotta have proof.
