I think he is a strong match...but not a sure-in. Why are you guys so sure? My concern: top 20%, 3.77 GPA, OOS, competitive public from IL (probably lots of applicants from same school).

I am a junior this year, I wanna know how my chance will be(what to work on and stuff)

[ *] College (LSA, engineering, etc.): engineering

[ *] Rank: About top quarter right now(the ranking system not really updated, very competitive school)

qrkdusdn.. I would say a match but try to get your SAT higher and just take some EC that you take interest in.

Ren90, definitely get your SAT score up and going or take the ACT and do well. Michigan doesn't really want anyone that has less than a 600 on any of the portion of the SAT. Also, get your GPA up. A special "boost" would be to take interest in some activities that are actually related to engineering. orcestra orcestra solo ensemble church... With those ECs, I don't really see a "potential" if i may say, that shows your ability as an engineer. Remember... the CoE is a little more difficult to get in and the average gpa is 3.9 and sat is higher than that of LSA.

Ty for response. Btw how many times should I take Sat/Act. Should I do early apply, if so will they see my senior year grades?

aamir19 - I don't think I can really get a good glimpse of your stats unless I see your gpa... But an Asian living in Kenya that's trying to move to America? Whoa

ExplorerCY - I think you're a match given your gpa and your course load. Your SATs aren't bad. Actually I did worse and I got it. But since you're applying to engineering, you might want to do a little better in math. Purdue is a great (GREAT) engineering school overall.. especially its aerospace engineering. I think aero engineering-wise, Purdue is definitely on par with Michigan, you'll get in, and it's definitely going to be cheaper (you being OOS for both and most likely getting grant money at Purdue).

aamir19 - What's your O-level scores and predicted A-level scores? Your SAT math score is low for engineering majors.

@GoBlue81
I realise my scores are kinda low(I grieved...believe me), but I still kept the hope alive. O levels were all A*'s and A's except foreign language gujarati C(I know). nine in total including, chem, math, physics,foreign language german,first language english, computer studies, geog & econ.
I have a 'A' in A-level math (did it a year early) and am doing geog, further math(considered university level math in the UK), physics and chem. Predicted all A's so i'll have five A levels which as i said is two more than the required/recommended as most people usually do three, higher caliber candidates take four but further math is a fifth.

@GoBlue81
btw when you said "whoa"...was that a good whoa or a bad one?
oh and we dont have gpa under the british system or at my school at all. If i had to ballpark using A=4 B=3 etc....i'd say atleast 3.7...but thats rally arbitrary.
Any thoughts??

aamir19,
With 5As predicted for A-Level and 8A/As for O-Level (I presume you have more As than As), you should be fine academically and your curriculum is certainly rigorous with 5ALs.

My only concern is that your math SAT score is low for engineering. Hopefully your strong science/math subject test scores and your predicted A in further math will make up for it. Overall, I like your chances.

p.s. The "whoa" is from j89 ... and I think it is a good "whoa" because of your diverse background.

@GoBlue81
Sorry about the "whoa" mix up.

@j89 Same question... was that a good whoa or a bad one? oh nad why if you could elaborate either way...
