Im going on the 25th too well I am planning on that but I havent received the confirmation either.
And im staying overnight on the 25th to 26th.

oo. I think i'm staying overnight on the 26th with a student. My flight gets in too late on the 25th.
This seems really fun! (plus I get to miss a few days of school for sunny, sunny CA) I can't wait!

Note to everyone: The stay is not mandatory! Just bear that in mind. Also, the 5:00 thing is just what I remember from last year. You will get a confirmation from CLAS about your interview and overnight time, so follow those instructions.

Sarah - You can call the admissions office about arriving after 5 and maybe you can work something out. I remember there was a girl who got to my overnight before the interview day a little later as well. Of course, if it's really late (probably past 6:30 or so), you'll probably only have the option of staying after.

The medical school tour is for students only; the parents go to a reception after the lunch and get to mingle, but the students get on a bus and go to LAC/USC Hospital.

The interview is really like a personality test--it's not like another medical program interview. Sometimes you'll be asked questions about medicine, sometimes you won't. It really all depends on your application and what they want to know more about you.

Jerricko - From the information I have, the interview is on the 11th. If you're going to hang out with the Bacc/MD kids then hang with your sister afterwards (which you should call LAS to make sure you can do that and/or make arrangements), you should be there by 5:00 on the 10th.

Juju - The overnight begins with one or two students picking you up at the CAS building, then taking you for a little tour. You meet with more students for dinner (at EVK or Parkside), then you sit and talk for a while about whatever you want. It's really chill and relaxed, just a chance to get assimilated to campus. After that, you break up with your host and do whatever you want for the rest of the night. We won't take you to parties, lol, but you will need a sleeping bag.

thanks for the great post penguin. Could you give a little info on how the interview is structured? is it like a round table interview, one-on-one, panel style, etc?

Hmm well after I receive confirmation for my interview date, I think I'll try calling.
sounds exciting! :) Thanks for the info again ppenguin757

And juju1414, you're arriving late on the 25th? Isn't the interview on the 25th?

The interview is usually a 3-on-1, with you interviewing with a current Bacc/MD student
(either undergrad or in medical school), a member of the admissions office of LAS and a doctor and/or faculty member at Keck. They all kind of ask you questions, so it's not like a roundtable or anything.

Jerricko, I still suggest you call them and ask, because that's not something I can answer.

well I just got my letter saying I didn't get an interview :( sorry to bring sadness but CONGRATS to everyone who got one! and I promise I'm not being sincere! I got over being petty and jealous about a week ago haha

Silly question:
is the med school campus the same as the main campus? Because i know that the health sciences campus is not at the same place..so which one are we staying at overnight?!

The medical school is located on the Health Sciences campus, along with LAC+USC, the Los Angeles County general hospital and the USC hospital. It's about seven miles away from the main campus, closer to downtown. You'll be staying overnight on the main campus with undergraduate Bacc/MDs.

Hello All!
My interview is tomorrow, February 25th, and I am nervous as can be!
Can anyone give me some example questions that the panel may ask?
I've read somewhere that I should have an opinion regarding current healthcare issues.
Is this true?
Also, what is everyone wearing?

wow, great that this thread got randomly spammed...

i kinda had the same question as asianamy.

how was the ba/md interview? do they ask a lot of medical related questions or is it more of a personality, getting to know you kind of interview?

haha....decent... i don't really know what makes a super awesome interview since it was my first one. xP i only ended up with 2 interviewers though, but it seems like other people had 3. how was yours? o, @ lawlzatyou, i think we went on the same interview day.
