The Official USC Baccalaureate/MD Thread!

i mean this one:
Urban areas in the United States are medically underserved and this shortage is projected to grow over the next decade. You are tasked with the creation of a medical clinic to meet the needs of an urban population. Please write a brief proposal for this clinic outlining the resources, personnel and programs you would suggest to meet the needs of this population. For context, please select an urban area near you.

how do you write it? essay or conventional proposal style?

I can’t be exactly sure and it would be best to contact them on Monday, but It seems more likely that an essay is appropriate. It does say essay #2 so I would assume it should be in essay format. I have a question though. The short answer section gives an 800 character limit and a 1000 character limit. Should I just stick to 800?

Can anyone let us know how to submit the bacc/MD application online? The website says “Both the USC Baccalaureate/MD Application and Part II Undergraduate Application for Admission must be completed online by December 1, 2010”. But we do not see any submit button on the Bacc/MD app? Will that buttoncome on once we submit the undergraduate app (part II)? We also posted this query on a different USC thread before we found this thread-our apologies for this.

bump i would like to know too

check your emails. usc should’ve sent one out today. just upload all your essays and stuff onto the bmd application and it will be downloaded after december 1st. you won’t be able to modify anything after the deadline.

Does anybody know if they will look at essays from our USC part 2 app in addition to the ones on the bacc/md app?

I actually just called the admissions office. Even though there is no submission button or anything they still recieved all my stuff just from me pressing the save and continue buttons. And @ twinjemini, I highly doubt they will look at that considering they require transcipts/test scores to be sent to their office as well and do not collaborate with the main admissions office.

Who wants to be brave and post their stats so we can see what the competition looks like?

did this happen to anyone: it says this but I never received an email confirmation for part 2?
Part II Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2011) - Submitted

did anyone get this: i submitted but i never received a formal email confirming that… I can see this
Part II Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2011) - Submitted

I hope this is good enough.

Unweighted GPA; Weighted GPA: 4.0; 4.50
SAT I : 2380
SAT IIs: 790 Chem, 800 Math II, 790 U.S. History
AP Scores: 5 Chem, 5 Calc BC, 5 U.S. History

I just feel like putting numbers for now.

a 4.5 with 3 ap’s? I don’t think so.

my school counts A+s and I got A+s in honors and AP classes

^Well, the school’s probably going to recalculate it.

When the admissions readers download your app, does it look the same way that it shows when you hit print preview?

Probably, which kind of sucks because the essays don’t have paragraphs at all :(

Chance me please?

unweighted - 4.0 weighted - 4.8
sat 1 - 2370
sat 2
math - 800, chem - 800, spanish - 790
ap’s
calc bc - 5, chem - 5, language - 5, apush - 5, psych - 5, human geo - 5
I have about 230 hours hospital volunteering but no shadowing or anything like that.

Fed and bsmd11, I called USC Bac/MD a while back and they said formatting is not an issue because none of our paragraphs and stuff seem to be coming out right.

I am a Junior right now, and would love to get into the bac/md program to be able to study abroad, do research, and take liberal arts classes: what do you think my chances are?

5 APs: Biology, US History, English Language, Chemistry, and Statistics
2130 on the SAT first try
SAT2:
670 on the math 2
700- biology

non-weighted GPA: 4.0 weighted: 4.67

I am number 1 in my class of 430

I know that these are not exceptional, but I have been keeping busy doing dance and musical theatre for almost 8 years, plus a choir, plus Girl Scouts.

any tips?

@dualdegreedr, I suppose your are enrolled in Northwestern HPME? According to 2010 USNW, UG ranking - MedSchool Ranking(Research) are 12-18 for Northwestern and 23-34 for USC. So you have gone to a better program (in terms of rank) in both schools. But your post makes me wonder what causes such a high attrition rate: high cost ? bad fit ? the fact that they have to work as hard as premeds becsause of the MCAT/GPA requirements of the BAMD program? One has to wonder, why only 15% of the people initially entering the program follow through into the med school. Don’t get me wrong – being able to opt out of the program is certainly a plus for students.
