The "OH GOD PART xyz HASN'T ARRIVED YET AND I'M SCARED!" thread

Oh I called them, and they took about 10 minutes to look through all the piles and stuff. So my teacher faxed it again today. I REALLY hope it makes it into the EA review.

So it's processed?

Not yet. I don't even know if it got through. My teacher told me at 4:55 EST that he faxed it. When I called they were busy, then I got the "we are closed message" 3 minutes later. I'm calling first thing tomorrow.

So I called this morning. Apparently the fax never made it through AGAIN. This is going to be the third time faxing it in at school. Shouldn't MIT be into the selection committee in a day or two? This is not good.

I thought they were in selection committees already. I guess it's still the reading phase. Considering the dean must read every application (or at least approve each), they should be running out of time. They usually mail them out 12-15th, right?

Maybe...just maybe...it's time to start blaming the teacher. When everyone else can send the faxes (mine got through first time, along with many other peoples), it sounds like user error.

PEBCAK.

I'd agree. Assuming most students' faxes went through, I don't see why yours wouldn't--especially after sending it so many times! Maybe it's getting grouped with RD applicants and it's causing some confusion. After all, they don't expect EA stuff this late (Its a month past the deadline). While you can, I'd spend maybe $10-15 and have it mailed overnight to MIT with tracking. The investment is small, but at least you get a confirmed delivery. Otherwise, your depending on your teacher. I had mine couriered and it arrived on the deadline day. It was processed shortly thereafter. I guess if they have to sign for the package, they file it quickly. Anyway, I'd do something quick. Or it's likely that they'll evaluate the app without the recommendation ~ not good!

Good news, it got faxed and MIT received it! I am so happy right now.

i must seem paranoid to the mit admissions office, i had my teacher send it, when it wasn't processed after a month, i had him fax it, and i had another math teacher, write another one, which should actually be a good supp rec
