*For 2 section Readings, read the first section, do the first section questions. read the second passage, do the second passage questions. then do the ones on both passages.

=] thanks barron’s*

Some stuff like that is blatantly obvious tbh. That’s how I did those sections before I read Barron’s. Why would you read both section and then do section 1 questions lol? It just doesn’t make sense.

I used to read the questions first, then the passage…

I stopped doing that, and started reading the passages in their entirety first, then going onto the questions and referring back. My verbal score increased considerably, almost 100 points.

before i read the passage, i underline the passage lines where questions are asked, for all the questions that involve a line number, like “in line x, ____ most nearly means”. but i leave questions about the main idea and stuff like that until after i read the passage.

I agree with reading the passages straight through… it’s easier, at least for me, since you don’t interrupted and devote your full attention vs. the lined portions taking away your attention.

I got a 720 on CR on my first SAT with this method from Barron’s 2400 Club:

First SKIM questions and just look for the line ref. and then go to the passage and make lines where the line ref are.
Read the passage in paragraphs and go to the questions after each paragraph.

Its only November, and im gna be taking the SATs in April. When do i start studying? my friend who has taken it already said 2 months before. Also, when doing the practice test, i got a terrible score. Does taking a bunch of those help increase the score because u get used to strategy or what?

but then again i found all the strategies in prep books absolutely worthless. they help in getting ppl from an 1100 to a 1300. and i looked at all of them.

i honestly think practice is the only way to make it to 1500+. i did 2 practice exams a day for 2 summers straight. got me a 1590 on old and 2330 on new.

So I was deferred at Stanford, and I’m going to take the SAT again on Jan 26th to try to bring up my score and entice them to accept me. ;] I’ve only taken it once and I didn’t study or anything; my composite score was 2040. I would like to get it up to around 2200 or something like that.
