I’m going to a wedding the end of October. I’d really like to wear a wrap beaded dress I have that comes about 1-2 inches above my knees. But…oh, I hate this, my legs have now become crepey. I just cringe when I see them and rarely wear shorts anymore.
I want to wear pantyhose with this dress SO bad! But I hate the thought of wearing pumps, that seems so old too…unless I could get a silver metallic.
Are any of you wearing hose to formal events? I don’t look good in just below the knee or midi length. Anyway, I guess it shouldn’t matter if it seems unfashionable or old…I am old I guess. But stinky crepey thighs are just NOT attractive, especially in cocktail.
I haven’t seen anyone in pantyhose in my area in years. I did attempt to wear them with a beaded dress of the same length to a wedding about 6 years ago. I took them off towards the end of the reception and tossed them. I went with the expensive brand that I read about on CC. I think @BunsenBurner is a pantyhose source of information. It has taken my many years to adjust to seeing my legs bare in a shorter dress.
It’s a dressy casual sunset boat cruise. In Michigan. End of September. Will probably be cool as it’s getting cool and it will be on the water. Brights and florals are encouraged. The groom is wearing a Hawaiian shirt and tennis shoes.
I tried it on today with a denim jacket and I have taupe booties. Can I wear tights? Or freeze my legs? I did buy tannner for my legs as any tan I might have had has faded. I would like to have worn knee high boots but apparently I donated them.
I’m not old and I wear hose at formal occasions, I wear tights under skirts all fall and winter (for warmth and for the look itself). Find a cute pair of metallic pumps!
They do! Probably not In Arizona where you winter out! I wouldn’t look for hose if I were in Arizona. Even in winter.
I like to be warm in chilly weather. It is amazing how much warmth that barely visible layer provides. @conmama I’d look at Wolford ($$$$) and Pretty Polly ($, a UK brand).
I did wear pantyhose to D’s wedding eight years ago. They were made for open toe shoes. I usually wear them to weddings and funerals.
I go to Nordstrom - the sales people are always very helpful.
I would not wear panty hose under any dress. I would wear spanx to smooth everything out and then a spray tan so my legs look good. I wear to the knee or longer dresses.
I’ll try to remember these, my friend works for saks and gets in on 50% off sales (just had one). Just went in on a really nice purse for a friend’s 50th birthday.
I always wear pantyhose (nude) to formal events. They make my legs look great and support around my tummy. I actually feel quite comfortable with them.
The color of my skin is fine. I don’t have varicose veins, or age spots. 2 years ago this wasn’t an issue. They just seem to have decided they are going to be wrinkly and crepey overnight on my upper thighs.
