im a sophomore right now and i was curious about college apps.

so there's a part on there where you write down your leadership/volunteer/extracurricular things that you did right?

im in this club and they told us that we should write down and keep track of the activities we did during our highschool career so we can remember later when were doing our apps.
they told us that when were in our senior year, were not gonna remeber things like painting birdhouses for relay for life and stuff like taht
but can you really put "i painted bird houses for relay for life" as one of your volunteer things?
or anything small like that

Yes. Many colleges across the country accept the Common App – one single application you electronically file with all colleges you’re interested in. Then some other colleges have individual applications that they prefer you file. In every college app we’ve seen there are ways to let admissions know about that specific thing. There are short-essay questions that ask you to discuss one certain community service project you did that meant something to you. There is your long, personal essay that in many cases can be about anything you want. There is a section of the Common App (and other college’s apps) that asks for “any additional information you’d like admissions to know about you,” kind of thing. And then, there are colleges who ask you to submit a resume, and on that resume most people just list things under certain headings – like Education, School Activities, Awards and Honors, Employment, and Volunteer Experience. You could list it there. Lots of ways to mention these things, if you want to.
