I just got accepted into Kenyon regular decision. It’s one of my top schools. However, I’m worried that socially it isn’t a great fit. I suppose I’m looking for a more “weird” or “alternative” social fit, for lack of a better word. But I definitely don’t want to go to a place like Reed where that is the pervasive social culture. Mostly I just want to be around people who care first and foremost about being intellectuals and not always just appreciating the things they’re TOLD to appreciate. Will I find that at Kenyon??
That wasn’t really worded well. I want to be around interesting people at Kenyon. Will I find that there?
@jbcheston I was accepted ED this year, but I can tell you this: the people who I have befriended so far over the group chat are wonderful people and I am extremely excited to meet them. Already, we have had wildly interesting conversations and we are already easygoing around each other. I think the people you find at Kenyon will be intellectually challenging and always up for debate, and curious to boot!

YES.
What you are looking for perfectly matches what my daughter was seeking for her college peer group. Now a freshman, she has found it in abundance at Kenyon. The level of intellectual engagement has surpassed her high expectations. You will find that most Kenyon students are a bit alternative, though there is a healthy mix of all types. Without question, the college offers a friendly, supportive intellectually engaging environment. Should you choose to attend you will no doubt find exactly the type of student body you seek.
thank you!
