The Performing Arts Project

Previous post asked about Tpap acceptance dates. The TPap acceptance email indicated they wanted our money by March 28th, which in the absence of any other dates, I am taking as our acceptance deadline. Our Junior has the good fortune of being accepted to both mpulse and Tpap. So I know for sure one spot will open up by Friday in one of the programs-- just not sure which one at this point.

My daughter attended TPAP last summer right before her Senior year and she was able to work with artistic teams from CMU, Oklahoma University, Texas State, Ball State, Rider, Wright State, and several others. The workshops were generally for more than one day and they would work just the rising Seniors in high school. It was a great opportunity for her to get to know so many of the people there and decide which schools she really liked and which ones she was pretty sure she did not want to work with. For me, as a mother, it was a great resource to have all in one place.

Congrats everyone! So exciting!

TPAP Company #2 was a life changing experience for my D. Leaving on the last day took HOURS due to all the hugging and lingering. Those kids did not want to leave after being there for 21 days!?! Really?!? Really! We parents stood by patiently giving them time and space to say their farewells but keeping our eyes on our watches as we all had planes to catch or road trips to begin. I can’t recommend this enough. My D also loved being able to talk to college MTers about the programs they were enrolled in and how happy they were… She gained lots of insights in one summer and I did too at parents’ weekend! I did not realize how clueless I was until I attended a session on How to Get Your MTer into College session given by Dave Clemmons! I agree with all @NAtlantaStudio said!

Well, even though my D will be done with the college audition process, and we will have figured out where she is going to attend by the time she leaves for TPAP - we know from her experience at BTP last summer that there is SO MUCH MORE than just college prep at these programs. She is looking forward tremendously to being a member of Company Three, and continuing to grow as an artist!

@kategrizz- They have sessions for the college aged-kids’ parents as well like “The Business of The Business”, etc… Congratulations to your D for getting in. I know she will love it!

@kategrizz- I am so excited to hear she got in!! It really is a great big family. These kids really do make long term friendships with the leaders as well as the kids. Welcome to the TPAP family and congrats to your daughter!!!

After so much thought, My daughter was accepted to TPAP off the waitlist and we accepted Friday – is there a facebook group for the kids attending? We paid our $800 yesterday so we are new. Thanks!!

Congrats!!! They should be sending you info on Company 3’s FB page. I am so excited for your D!!! Yay!!!

Anyone apply for this year? We received our admission today! Woohoo Company 4!!!

Yes! My daughter got her email acceptance today too!

My D was a Company 2 member and just received her Company 4 acceptance. She LOVES TPAP sooooooo incredibly much. If your child is going for the first time, something Very special awaits them!

I was just accepted into Company 4! woohooo! I am a high school senior. Can anyone who has participated in the program before tell me whether I will be the oldest? Is the program most “worth it” for rising seniors who want exposure to program heads? Would I still learn a lot as someone who is about to head into a college theatre program? thanks!

It’s an amazing program. A good amount are college students. It’s terrific on all fronts!

@MTstudent435‌ - you will not be the oldest! My D was a member of Company 3 last summer - the summer between HS and College - about half of the company will be college age (Pre-Professional) and the other half will be HS age (Pre-College). There are some things where you are all mixed up - and some things where you will be with your Pre-Pro peers. My D had an absolutely fabulous time - I wish we could send her again - but this year was the double college tuition year for us - so she has to get a J.O.B. this summer! D called it a “Life Changing Experience” - so Congratulations!!

Congrats to all of you!!! It is an AMAZING program, it changed my D’s whole perspective on this field. We have had 10+ kids go to this program and it changed all of them in such positive ways!!

We were accepted as well!! It is a wonderful program - my d went last year as a rising junior and loved it!

D got her acceptance yesterday too! Have heard great things about the program from friends!

This question is for the parents of previous attendees: which local Winston-Salem hotels do you recommend or not recommend? TIA

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on University. Clean, comfortable, affordable…and close to the school. Try Village Tavern in Renolda Village for dinner. This was the gathering place for parents.
