The Pomfret School

One of the schools I got accepted to is Pomfret, which is the school I want to attend so far.
What are your thoughts of it?
How are the academics, arts, school life?
Are the teachers good or helpful?
Is the city safe overall?
Thanks in advance

I don’t have a lot of specifics with regards to the teachers, academics and social life but I can tell you that Pomfret, CT is VERY safe. It’s a small, NE town in Northeast CT. There’s not a ton to do around Pomfret but it’s a beautiful area.

Did you visit Pomfret already?

I’ve heard that the dorms there serve nutritious yet delectable cuisine and I think that really is the essence of what comprises a good prep school.

I have not visited Pomfret and will not be going to the Re-Visit days either due to some issues at home T

Congratulations!
I have one nephew there now and one who recently graduated. What stands out most I think is how close they are to the faculty. They have only the best things to say about the school. They are/were both very happy there. I know they never wanted to come home on the weekends though they didn’t live that far away.
It is not in or near a city-in fact it is very remote.

The food is not really brag-worthy, though it is decent. The campus is only within walking distance of a coffee shop and cafe. Very safe area.

Looking at the school website, it doesn’t seem like they have Model UN. I wasn’t completely aware of this when I applied. Does the school have Model UN?

Also, are the dormitories safe? Mostly singles or doubles?

If you go to a school that doesn’t have an activity you like, why not try to start it up? Club founders get extra points for leadership.

I can’t say for Pomfret, but our school website does not do a good job of updating club lists. I just looked at it and had to wonder what at least 5 of the listed clubs were. Never heard of them; don’t think they exist. I agree with Rellielou–new clubs get started by students all the time, and there will be teachers who can help you figure out how to do that.

Good luck at Pomfret–it’s a great school.
