ThE pOST iNTERVIew

I had a great interview on Friday night. My interviewer gave me some numbers and stuff and told me to check out some websites. Good Stuff. But i was a little bit astounded that my interviewer did most of the talking, and asked some pretty good questions like how about culture shock and competition.

My question is, how will the interviewer report on me. Do they generate like a short essay for or against, or do they simply list.

Another thing is my interviewer did a lot of checking up, asking what is this award, what do you do on a daily basis scheduling wise, how many classes do you take. I was wondering wether harvard in the short timespan between recieving my application and organizing an interview created these specific questions for specific people, or if its simple standard operating procedure to ask about awards and clarify programs.

Finally since this interview is for the EA round, do my interviewers do anything differently.

I would especially appreciate byerly or NSM reponses, thanx

No two interviewers proceed in exactly the same way. There is no "official" format.

What will be generated is a "Personal Interview Report", which includes:

1 An optional tabulation of SAT, ACT and AP scores, if the interviewer obtained them;
2. A ranking of the applicant from 1-5 (with 1 being the highest) in four categories:Academic, Extracurricular, Personal and Overall. Guidelines are provided as to how these numbers should be interpreted and applied; and
3. A "summary report" which is a narrative account of the interview and the interviewer's impressions of the candidate. Interviewers are encouraged to focus on the candidate's "personal qualities" - ie, "intellectual curiosity, self-confidence, warmth of personality, sense of humor, energy, maturity" etc etc.
4. The length, style and degree of specificity of the Reports can vary, depending on the interviewer.

can you post those guidelines ...PLEASE byerly :)

kinda makes no sense since i already sent in my SATs, but i did give it to the interviewer in an interviewee questionaire form he gave me WHICH INCLUDED awards, honors, and goals.

Do you think they will send that questionaire in.

Do the interviewers rank candidates, and if so what happens in SCEA if there are only one or two candidates per region.

any more info will help, SINCE IM SO ANXIOUS FOR DEC15

"can you post those guidelines ...PLEASE byerly"

I'm pretty sure that publicly posting the guidelines would be a violation of the code of conduct for almun interviewers...

You can easily Google and find the interview guidelines either from other alum interviewers who listed them on College Confidential or from Jay Mathews, a former alum interviewer who listed the guidelines in his Washington Post column. The guidelines are not secrets. Savvy applicants use Google to find out as much info about things like this as they can.

It's up to the local regional alum schools committee how they handle the interviews. Some regional committees rank candidates in their region, some do not.

in your interview: are you compared to the other students who have been interviewed by the same alumni?? Thanks

I had my interview tonight and it was AWESOME! I am so excited...we really connected and I felt like I was talking to a friend...that was a bit older than me....:)

The interviewer writes a report on the candidate, at least that's what mine did. He took notes the whole time and mentioned constructing his essay several times. They ask questions they come up with themselves and they are the same for all their interviews (my best friend and I had our interviews by the same man a day apart).
