What kind of posts do we see every April? Feel free to add more.

A. "Got into dream school X, but need $30,000 per year loans. Should I go there or cheap school Y that I don't like?"

B. "Got into schools X, Y, and Z, but they are too expensive. Got into cheap school W, but it does not have any major that I am interested in. What should I do?"

C. "Got into dream school X, but my parents want me to go to school Y that I don't like (and is not cheaper than school X). How do I convince them to let me go to school X?"

D. "Got into schools X, Y, and Z. How do I take out the $30,000 per year loans needed to attend any of them?"

E. "Didn't get into any school except my safety. But I don't want to go there. What should I do?"

Entitles thread “Got rejected everywhere.” Open thread, and discover student was rejected at the Ivies, MIT and Stanford, but got into schools like Colgate and Vanderbilt.

You’d think they’d give an actual course about this kind of thing in high school. You know, instead of Pottery, no matter how enjoyable Pottery might be. More important than a driving course considering it’s “crossroads” decision making that determines the rest of their lives.

The rescission ones seem to pop up a lot in June/July after students see D or F grades on their final high school report cards. But some have been showing up in response to fall senior year D and F grades, mostly relating to UCs, which do not use mid-year reports, but do not like to see any D or F grades in senior year on the final high school transcript.

PolarBear-my D’s school DOES teach a course about this. It’s a 6-12 public school and the kids have classes about once a month in 6th grade to begin thinking of possible careers and what kind of schooling is needed. By the time they reach senior year, they’ve built a list of schools, majors, stats needed, and understand the realities of getting in and getting financial aid. It’s one of the single most important things her school does, IMO.

I got into X school, but everyone from my high school will going there so I don’t want to go there.

Nobody told me that I have to turn in this form call CSS Profile to get aid. What is that?

I need to borrow $30k per year, but everyone in my family has bad credit, so which bank will give me a loan that won’t need a cosigner.

I applied to all of these schools that use CSS Profile and require NCP info. My dad earns a lot of money, and does pay child support, but he won’t pay anything for college. Can’t I get a waiver since he won’t pay?

The ones that I’m usually convinced are made up – My DS or DD got into Harvard, Yale AND Princeton. And s/he just can’t decide which one to go to! Oh, my life is so hard . . . .Poor me . … .

I just got back from my dream school accepted student day and I hated it there. I turned down scholarships from all other schools. What do I do?

I can’t get my IDOC packet done on time. Will that affect my aid?

My parents can’t file their taxes until October. Will that affect my aid?
