Nevermind...

from the Yale thread, the "Predictions Game" is just that...a game. It's a fun way to pass the agonizing time waiting for the real day. It's sort of like when little kids choose things out of store catalogs that they can't really have...or playing the alphabet game on a long car ride. It's only fun if you look at it that way. As soon as you start taking things for real, it becomes irritating. It's a way to pass the time and it could also be fun just to see who guessed right when the real results come out.

exactly andi, exactly.

lol hey man do u go to rm

Yeah I do. Did you go to RM?

naw i was rejected from RM. did u do columbia ed?

Yeah, what school do you go to? RM's not as great as it was cracked out to be.

i go to QO. r a lotta ppl from RM doin columbia ed?

I'm the only one I know in IB thats doing Columbia ED. I think there might be two or three regular students at RM doing Columbia ED.

aw man..more competition from our area. how r the regular students at RM? r they insanely smart too?

I think one of them is pretty smart and the other is not so smart. Yeah, thats what I hate about living in MoCo. Excellent schools, but too many smart people. I'm glad that not too many people are applying to Columbia ED. Probably 30-40 IB students will apply there RD, if they get rejected from HYP ED/EA. I know like 15 students from IB are applying to U.Penn ED, which kinda turned me off from it.

r u applying SEAS? moco has such a disparity between schools..theres like RM, wootton, whitman, churchill, qo..n then like einstein wheaton paint branch springbrook. but we're all in like the same friggin county. i agree with u..too many smart people. i wonder if its like that everywhere tho?

Nah, I'm applying to CC. I think MoCo is probably one of the smartest counties in the country (student-wise), as well as one of the most affluent. It'd be definitely a disadvantage to apply to the Ivys from MoCo, with so many qualified applicants. I'm pretty nervous about Columbia.

o im doin seas..yea im nervous has heck too..it could really go either way. who really knows what goes on inside the heads of the adcom. but do they even know what county we're from? maybe its in our school profile. i know moco is at the top but that could be good or bad depending on how u view it..thatd b cool if we both got in..we can ride the bus together for breaks n stuff

Yep. When I visited up there for an overnighter in mid-November, I met a kid who went to the Jewish Day School there. I think we're represented pretty well up there.

do a lotta people from MD get accepted or apply? i didnt get an interview. and i dont think being asian helps?

I think two people got in Columbia last year from RM, not sure if any of them applied ED. Both of their SATs were perfect 1600s though and the average GPA was 3.89.

I got an interview the week before Thanksgiving. Evidently, my interviewer was the the lawyer who represented Clinton at the impeachment trials, Abbe Lowell.

o wow thats awesome. now i feel bad cuz i didnt get an interview..hmm a kid from my school last year was waitlisted with a 3.8 1520. im the only one this year doin columbia. i dont think its that well known even though its an ivy. but thats ok by me
