Okay I couldn't help making another post now that the pressure's doubled. For some reason, my rock band's college acceptance is really good right now. One member got into dartmouth, the other into princeton...the pressure is on for me to get into MIT...agh :/

that's one smart rock band =D

yeah aren't we all supposed to be drunk/stoned/both? maybe the ivy leagues actually are trying to build themselves punk/ska scence?? lol

I hope so. I'm in a punk band. (put it down as first EC and wrote the short answer about it)

The lead singer of weezer went to harvard. Too bad he stopped making good music, though.

Too bad Harvard sucks!

Haha, sorry, I can't help myself.

Go Beavers! :P

Emmitt, I know this sounds lame, but can you post what the acceptance letter says? Like, do they give a website link for admitted students, or something?

:D

streetlight,
I think I read your stats somewhere around here,
and I honestly think you have a great chance
so I wouldn't be worrying much :D
even if you do get deferred - 300 more ppl get accepted in the RD round,
so total around 700/2822 EA get in.
I just wish the letter would come right now :( the wait is more agonizing then the decision

What are your stats Streetlight?

^ if I remember correctly he had the whole package= great gpa great SAT's
PLUS research which is always a ++++

LSA, I actually didn't read any of the three letters (admissions letter, president letter, and financial aid letter) thoroughly. But, I don't remember seeing any link.

They basically say please come to MIT and see you on CPW.

If you still want to see the letter, let me know.

Well, I'd be curious to see what the (admissions) letter says... (and I'm sure a pile of the others here would too :D ).... hmm, do you have a scanner or something? That would be cool.

you suuure you wouldn't rather find out for yourself?

well, ok, fine. let's wait a few days.. :)

tokonyo, haha i didn't mean this to be a "what are my chances" stats thread, just a vent for my frustrations, but here we go:

Don't listen to him and post it anyway!

nooo dont do it dont do ittttt

so you're indian too? (I saw on another thread) This is getting a bit creepy. Look at my stats:

Indian
1590 SAT I
800 math iic, 800 biology, 740 writing, 780 physics
APs: BC calc 5; Biology 5; Microeconomics 5; English Lang 4; US History 4
4.3something gpa

ECs:
-Bass Player in Punk Band (haven't opened for Springsteen, but we get around. no website though)
-Student Council since 9th grade, now VP
-Tons of trumpet stuff, jazz, concert, pit
-Columbia SHP
-Scouts since I was 5
-NHS

-AP Scholar with Distinction
-NCTE nominee
-Some other state/regional level awards

So we're both Indian, both in rock/punk bands, both doing SHP, both in SCouncil, and some other stuff. And here I thought the punk thing would be a hook.

If you are from New Jersey, that would complete the freakiness. BTW, is your name Ryan by any chance?

Name's not Ryan.

I'm from CT, so we're saved in that measure. I think I'd become a lot more religious if we somehow were going to the same school.
