I thought it was an excellent movie. Any thoughts?

I always wonder why they couldn't just use "happiness."

It's a running joke in the movie. I thought it was very sweet and excellent.

fantastic film

So it was intentional? Thank god. I was concerned.

I kept wondering about the spelling too...

I wonder if he paid the cab driver

^ I smell sequel! Kay, maybe not.

Makes we wonder why he didn't file for unemployment benefits (unless such program didn't exist in 1981)...even if the benefit was little, he sure was desperate about getting that $14.

I thought that it was good but too long and too repetitive.

Not a top 10 movie for me.

I loved it but I didn't think it was particularly special. It was feel-good, which meant I enjoyed it, that's all. I did think Will Smith Jr. did a great job though! Of course, it helped that his dad played his dad!

I haven't seen the movie but read an article in Reader's Digest about the guy the movie is based on. I found his story very touching.

It's on this site:

Awesome!!!

Its intentional. The guy this movie was based on (who started a mid level trading firm) couldn't afford a day care service, called Happyness, for his kid. There was an article in this magazine called Trader Monthly on the guy this movie is based on.

yeah, i just saw the movie on saturday night, i agree with you, the movie was amazing, but it made me cry :( some little girl making out with her bf behind me was making fun of me

I thought it was good overall, but I have to admit it did get a little repetitive, and I was sick of all the unlucky breaks he was getting, but the end was nice to make up for it

It was such a sweet movie!!!:)

I didn't see what was repeptitive about the movie.

I would call the movie good (since the story itself was good) but not Best Picture quality. In order to achieve that status, it must incorporate more of life's subtleties that would make the story more inspiring (the dinosaur scene in the subway was great). I'm not sure what to make of Mr. Smith's acting, but critics have influenced me to think it was great. I think I need a second viewing to notice the nuances. As in Crash, Thandie Newton over-acted (makes me think that this is characteristic of her acting).
