nope, just berkeley

what if you didn't get in? I don't know about Neurobiology major. I hope it is not very competitive. If it is, you are taking a serious risk.

joehanus: thanks :) I'm definitely prepared to end up in a cardboard box but as long as I'm happy there...

CCStudent88: UCLA would have been my first choice UC; Cal is second. To declare the music major with a performance emphasis (which is what I am), you have to:

a) get admitted to the university (hence the need for good stats).
b) get admitted to the major, which entails passing an audition. I didn't make the first round @ UCLA (I blame my recording tech because he put effects on my voice - reverb - when you weren't supposed to, and I did the recording last minute so I couldn't rectify the mistake. I also blame the head cold I had at the time of the recording. Lesson people: NEVER put important stuff off until the last minute). UCLA's super-competitive anyway (being a soprano doesn't help, either; we dominate) so I know it was kind of crapshoot anyway, but I'm still crestfallen. I'm debating whether I should (or even could) call them and change my major for UCLA to something in the music dept. where I wouldn't need to audition.

I know that with music majors your audition is the most important factor; you could have the most godawful stats in the world and still get admitted to Juilliard if you sing or play your instrument well enough. It's all about proficiency. UCB is a totally different ballgame though because there's no audition required - hence my obsession over my stats and whether they're good enough to get in.

well it's okay if i stay at my four year school, it just doesn't offer as much for what i actually want to study as berkeley does, but i appreciate the concern

hey duogmeg, get Simon Cowell to write a recommendation and appeal with that :D

I am reposting my stats because I was able to find a spanish 2 class during the summer. I wrote UCB and UCLA and told them I will be retaking the class. This should bring my gpa back up to a 3.94. So taking that into consideration...

Major:math
Prereqs: all completed except diff eq. (and comp sci course for UCLA)
gpa:3.7 (one F, two B's, the rest A's)retaking the F
major gpa: 4.0
EC: Full time financial analyst, dean's list, honors classes..
IGETC:completed

Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSD
Accepted: UCSD
Pending: UCB, UCLA

Major: computer engineering
Prereqs: all
GPA: 3.5
major GPA: 3.9
EC: minimal
IGETC: not completed

what do you think my chances are at UCSD and UCLA?

Major: ee
Prereqs: all done (physics 3 will be done this semester)
GPA: 3.2
major GPA: 3.4
IGETC: not doing it
many years of work experience with civil & structural engineering firms (I'm older than dirt)
Do you think UCSD will let me in?

lol alansda

UCSD admits based on GPA and major preparation. They will not consider age, nor extracurricular activities. The information I've received through the mail indicated that their average admitted GPA for transfer students this year was a 3.4. You shouldn't give your hopes up, however. You're stats look like it may be around that ball park.

Major: computer science
Prereqs: taking last one this semester
GPA: 3.58
major GPA: 3.375
EC: full time job
IGETC: not completed

Chances at UCLA?

I ****ed off a lot of people by creating this thread, but oh well.

Lol, so that's the forum I have to look forward to once I transfer. They don't seem as receptive as UC-transfers.

That's a result of cutthroat competition. Everyone's an enemy. BUM BUM BUUUUM

damn... no anthro majors?

Here is the response I got back from UCB about taking Spanish 2...

"If you have been admitted, please give this information to your admissionofficer via the web site on which you received your admissiondecision--that will happen on APril 30th.-- UC BerkeleyAdmissions Staff"

So basically they are not going to consider the spanish 2 class??

If you are completing IGETC and your major does not have foreign language prerequisites you do not need to complete Spanish 2.

I don't need spanish 2 for any other reason other then my gpa going from 3.7 something back to a 3.94.
