<p>It depends. If you're depending on your GPA/Rank to be the highlight of your application, then a B will definitely hurt. But if you're relying on other things to get into college and aren't perfect to begin with, a single B should not be the difference between admission and rejection. There are just so many parts of an application. GPA might be 30% of the app. That class might be 5% of the gpa, and in turn 1 or 2% of the total app. the reality is that it never comes down that close because gpa is just one factor.</p>
<p>^for top colleges, they get thousands of applicants with perfect GPAs and near perfect SAT scores... Academics at that level is no longer the deciding factor</p>
<p>at my private school, top 10% = Ivy admit and a B can be a huge deal if it knocks you out of the top 10%</p>
