The really important questions:

1) How far (time wise) is Camden Yards from the JHU campus and what is the best and safest way to get there?

2) Is there public transportation to NYC from JHU (how long and what is cost if you know?)

Thanks :)

Amtrak is the best way to NYC. Train station is a 5 minute cab ride from campus. There are low student fares available.

Camden Yards is about 15 mins away from the campus by cab. Cab is fast but the Hopkins shuttle can take you half way there (to Peabody) and you can walk the other 15 blocks or so. It’s all safe.

Amtrak is a rip off. Bolt bus & Mega bus are the way to go.

Hah. I almost exclusively fly to NY. I know it’s more expensive and you have to get to the airport early, but I just can’t stand the train, and I’m not sitting on a bus for 4 hours.

Fly! wow.

i take the Bolt Bus ( www.boltbus.com ) to get to NYC when I go. 3.5 hours, fast, clean, free wifi. Ticket prices change depending on how early you buy them them. They vary from 10-20 bux per ticket, so round way will be btwn 20-40 bux regardless of how long you stay. Not as sketchy as Megabus, imo. =]

Sometimes there are 1 dollar tickets but those are usually at random days and times, ie wednesday at 9:15am or something …but you may get lucky!

You’d actually be surprised at how many people fly from BWI to NY (either La Guardia or Islip). Besides, I like getting free pretzels and drinks!

Last Semester I went to New York 4-5 times.

I went once by Amtrak and the rest by BoltBus

Amtrak gets you to NY in two hours, which is reasonably fast, but there is always a 30-40 minute delay. The ticket prices, if you book really early, can be 40 dollars one-way at the cheapest. Most of the time, though, they cost 60-80+.

BoltBus costs 15 dollars. The trip is 3.5-4.5 hours ish. There’s air conditioning and free wifi.

Personally, I recommend BoltBus. If you can spare the extra hour or two, then you can save a good sum of money.

Camden Yards… I would take the local bus. The fare is 1.60, but I’m not sure exactly where it drops you off.
