SATI: 1320 (690 v, 630 m)
GPA: 3.7 UW
good honors/AP from private school in seattle
lots of leadership and EC's
above avg recs and essays
interviewed fairly well

USC really made some interesting admission decisions...a kid in my class got accepted with the following stats:

SAT: 1220
GPA: 3.58 weighted AND unweighted = no honors/AP classes ever
no leadership, only involved in soccer 4 years but not even captain or star player
avg. recs/avg essay
no interview, no ec's

I was literally shocked when I got my big crimson acceptance package.

WHY: I have a 3.4. I took only three APs- all during this (senior) year, and only one term of physics senior year. Grades in math and science were awful all through high school. 3.4, though, is unweighted. I got to a private prep school that's academically tougher than publics. So infalted, my GPA is probably around a 3.7, 3.8.

I visited once-- did not interview at all.

Why I got in (maybe):
Good recs
Good ECs
About met average SAT for USC admits: 1390
Pretty darn good essay
Coming from the Deep South (don't think many USC students come from down here)

And, uh, my dad was a Trojan, undergrad and grad.

Make of all this what you will. Maybe they really liked my essay.

All of you that got rejected: You have pretty awesome stats anyway, which means that you probably got into stellar schools anyway. So best wishes!

everyone who was rejected with solid stats or havent heard? did they ask for your mid year reports? because hella people with lower stats than me got asked but i did not and i think somethin is really wrong here...PLEASE ANSWER!

Daughter rejected, received letter 4/2.
Low stats (especially SATs) but they did request her midyear grades which were very good.
Mother and grandfather were legacies, but for masters degrees.

She got into other great schools so no problem here.

I got rejected, 1380, 96/748, didnt get asked for mid year, SOLID ec's / essay, pretty confused on why i got rejected. The letter says the mean SAT score was 1395, and most people who got in made almost straight a's, not sure about that. Wow, i havent been this depressed in a long time.

i was asked for midyears, and i had a 4.33 GPA for 1st semester, so it should have helped, but i was still rejected. i got into ucla, and i know a few people who were rejected from ucla and got into usc. I don't know, it's sort of annoying....just a little....

got rejected today. 1360, 3.9 gpa, solid ec's and essays. i was asked for a mid-year report, which was also very strong. this was my first choice but now i'm gonna decide between nyu and umich. i'm thinking of transferring.

rejected officially today on april 4th...
stats:
1320, 3.7 UW with many honors/AP, excellent EC's and leadership and service, good essays, good recs

my son, nick, was also rejected. just checking to see how you kids did. i'm sorry you didn't get in either. i was rooting for you all. nick is going to try and transfer. he loves usc. his stats were not great, but he is a national award winning director - incredible resume. he'll be fine and so will all of you. best of luck in the future!!!!!

got rejected too.
