So, I just got my rejection letter. I applied ER, got deferred, and then here we are. I also sent in an updated resume and a letter telling how much I love Michigan and why it's a good fit for me to help, but I guess it didn't. As for what's next, my plan is to transfer in after freshmen year, so we'll see how that goes. Well, any other rejected applicants who wanna share their story? Also, any tips or suggestions on transferring in will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

honestly I’m pretty surprised that you got rejected in the end. You’re stats were pretty good. I guess it just goes to show that Michigan isn’t an easy school to get into.

My story: life long Michigan Man, never picked it up in high school until my 4th semester. That makes a long story really short. I’ll be going to Central Michigan. I have no plans to transfer. My goal is to go to a t14 law school after ug. I’ll be bustin ass for four years, hope to get a GPA 3.7-3.9. I want to intern in Washington D.C… I feel disrespected by UofM and I might apply to go to Law School there, but if I am accepted to a higher ranked/better for me school, I will forgo Michigan, and send them a nice letter thanking them for the rejection in 2010.

I am also surprised that you guys got rejected. But I mean they really cannot accept everyone, I’m sure it was nothing personal and I doubt they were trying to disrespect you. What did the letter say/was it friendly or impersonal?

Haven’t gotten mine yet, but I still feel disrespected after all the years I’ve been dedicated to the university, but whatever…

If you only picked it up in your fourth semester, that means you only dedicated 2.5 years to Michigan. Everyone else was working hard for 4 years. That’s your problem right there.

krw pretty much hit the nail on the head. but the problem is that not everybody has an older sibling pushing them and guiding them on a path to get accepted to U of M (like me). Also, i didn’t realize that I wanted to attend U of M until the beginning of my senior year, which really was too late. I certainly didn’t do bad in high school, not by any means being ranked in the top 10% of my senior class. But if I had worked harder and had a plan from thte beginning of freshman year, i know that I would’ve gotten in. Instead i’m waitlisted :/

He meant the 4 years in undergrad. I kinda take offense to mechiganboy feeling disrespected. yes it is disappointing to not have your aspirations met, however you are coming across as portraying it as something that should be entitled to you, which I, along with many others who are going to attend, have aimed for with legitimate difficulty and still feel thankful for being accepted, even if some would say Michigan is more of a match or safety to some of us accepted. However if you are getting so offended by them, what is it truly saying about your attitude towards them? Nothing that is not simply volatile.

oh. now i feel dumb lol.

Oh no no no I know why I was rejected, straight up I UNDERSTAND. But, whatever, I could tell you everything about me and you’d understand but it is pointless

@123abc456
What was your stat?

GPA: 3.77
SAT: Took 3 times; got a 1940, 1870, and 2060 respectively
ACT: 30
SAT II: Math I- 670
School: OOS; went to a pretty competitive school in Texas
Course Rigor: Took the hardest classes offered by my school, took lots of APs
ECs: Was involved in many clubs and activities at school. Also volunteered much in community.

And that’s pretty much it, I guess.

BTW, MechiganBoy, what were your stats?

^^^^yea your OOS status was the deciding factor

****!

BTW, snake, did you get in?

Man I really wish you guys had gotten in, you would’ve made for great classmates (as opposed to some of the idiots I’m seeing on the Facebook group)…

3.3 uw
26 ACT
Lot’s of honors and AP
nothin special
I knew it wasn’t my numbers that were gonna get me in

i still haven’t gotten the “view decision” link yet
the only reason i say your OOS status was the deciding factor was because i know people with lower(but not by much) stats in-state and got in

it’s a load of bull$hit 123abc456 didn’t get in. I may not have the right to feel disrespected, but you should… You’ll do great wherever you go I’m sure.

Haha hey Recharge, I’m in that group… :(

MechiganBoy and snake

Sorry, I made a mistake on my stats info. My GPA was a 3.77 W out of a 5.0. So, I’m pretty sure that’s the reason I got rejected. Thanks for the back-up MechiganBoy, but I don’t feel disrespected or anything. I just feel angry at myself for not trying harder and doing better back in high school. But the damage has been done and there’s nothing left to do except try harder in college. My plan is to try to transfer to Michigan, but this time, I’ll really work hard and do better and see where we go from there.
