The Rejects Corner

Hey all..

Here is a corner dedicated to the folks who DIDN'T get in... would you all care to post your stats/ec's/ awards? As well as which school you plan to attend next?

During this tragic time in our lives, I think we can help each other cope with the grief and move on.

I haven't heard a decision yet.. but I will be with all of you shortly

haha! About time there's a thread for us rejects.

4.0 (I don't know how they weighted it, but I got all A's, though my GPA might be a little lower if they count A-'s)

550M, 620V, 580W

Yearbook editor, announcement anchor, literary magazine editor, school ambassador, debate

National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, 2nd place at a Foreign Language Oratorical Competition

Out of state (GA)

I don't really care that I didn't get in. I had already convinced myself I would be rejected, so it was no surprise I did. UGA, here I come!

Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: 3.80
GPA - Weighted: 4.70

SAT I Writing: 560
SAT II U.S. History: 680
SAT II Math Level 2 (IIC): 670

Extracurriculars:

piano for 10yrs, tutoring, beta club, national honor society, venturing (boy scouts), FBLA, church youth group

I'm already accepted to NC State, ugh (im don't have anything against the school, i just wanted to get out of the south), but i was waitlisted to NYU. Hopefully, i'll get lucky just this one time and actually get accepted to NYU. That would suck if they keep giving me hope and stringing me along, only to eventually squash my hope like a pathetic little bug.

fck this is my third rejection letter... =(

3.88 unweighted, ~4.3 weighted?
27 act
790 korean, 780 2c
top 10%
4 ap (5 5 4 3) with bunch of honors
senior class - 2ap, 1IB
decent ecs, essays...etc etc etc etc

i don't know why the hell am i posting this....lol....
time to move on..................

youre posting it to help others ^^

Trojans: your rejection makes me nervous about checking my mail today. And also, just as a heads up... NYU rarely accepts people on their waitlists. (At least that's what it said on the paper telling me I got in for GSP)

and Xi: I hope you feel real bad about creating this site when you get in! hahaha.

^

Um.. as far as I'm concerned, I'm just a reject in-denial :(

just got off the phone with my counselor who called... they said the cinema school decision wouldnt matter b/c i didnt get into the regular school first... whatever, my backup is frekin NYU so ill be fine

you counselor called the admissions office and they told them your decision? have you gotten your official rejection letter yet?

yes i already got it.

oh wow... i'm really really sorry wing :{

my mail hasn't come yet...

This is so weird...I just got a thin envelope regular mail and in it was an acceptance letter for USC.....I already got the big package a few weeks ago...I wonder what's up with their mailing system?

You better not be screwing with us.

I misread the envelope...it's from the Cinema School Office of Admissions...it looked just like the regular envelope until I read it more carefully...when you open it starts off with "Congratulations on your admission to USC!"....then it goes on to say sorry you didn't get into the school of Cinematic Arts....and then explains all the other options and an open house in October...sorry for the confusion....not trying to make anybody's day any worse....

boo for rejection!

yay for UCSD/UCSB!

boo for missing a freshmen year at 'SC!

yay for thinking about how hard im going to work freshmen year to get in as a transfer!

Decision: Rejected

Stats:
SAT: 720CR 710M 720W (super score)
SAT IIs: 740 US History 670 English Lit
GPA: 3.6ishuw
Rank: school doesn't rank
Other stats: lots of APs and honors
Subjective:
Essays: i thought they were good
Teacher Recs: decent, only got one.
Counselor Rec: probably average. i go to a rather large public school. she was really enthusiastic when she heard i was applying to USC though.
Hook (if any): i don't think i have any... low income?
Location/Person:
State or Country: CA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Male
Other Factors:
Extracurriculars: student council, volunteering for four years, various clubs, four years of orchestra!
Why I think I was accepted/deferred: recs probably could have been better
Other thoughts: i hope people with lower stats than me will not look at this post and automatically lose hope. every applicant is different. just because i did not get in does not mean you won't. have faith, the letters will come sooner or later. as for me, i will be going to UCSD. i was preparing to choose whether or not to go to UCSD w/ a rather good fin aid package and scholarship versus USC, which i will probably pay quite more. getting rejected from USC just makes the choice easier. good luck for those who haven't heard yet!

I guess I'll post before it hits me.

Why I think I was accepted/deferred: because sometimes, this is all so arbitrary.

What were your guys' rejection letters like? Were they all the same...

Mine had a paragraph about "Because you are a member of the Trojan Family, we have set aside the final weeks in June, from the 11th to the 29th, for you to meet with a member of the admissions staff..."

So much for 60% left...
