The Rejects Corner

<p>Well the admit rate IS less than 25%</p>

<p>i'm lazy to post ALL my stats but I had a 4.0 cumulative GPA .. 3.7 unweighted ...</p>

<p>LOTS of EC's including .. ASB officer each year .. this year , Pep Commissioner , Features Editor for the newspaper , Key Club (lots of community service hours) , CSF , Renaissance , Spanish Club , Nat'l Honor Society , AP English Club .. </p>

<p>i had some hooks such as URM , 1st generation , overcoming difficulties with two mentally disabled siblings , etc .</p>

<p>BUT ....
ITS ALL GOOD !!</p>

<p>i'm goin to UCLA .</p>

<p>we're all goin to be OKAY .</p>

<p>=]</p>

<p>Could you all please list the major you applied under, as it is very relevant information. Thanks</p>

<p>blizzard</p>

<p>you got UCLA, congrats man.. i'd be cheerful too if I were you</p>

<p>I applied to Annenberg with no second choice.</p>

<p>stressed0ut ..
hehe , i'm a girl btw .. its hard to tell with these unisex names , huh ?
well yeah .. i wanted to go to either UCLA / USC .
and now well i have my choice made .
i was just really sick of waiting .
but you havent heard yet ??!!
you can still be hopeful .
afterall you're not rejected until you have the rejection letter in your hand .
and either way , you can then plan what you will do .</p>

<p>goood luck to ya .</p>

<p>=]</p>

<p>yeah i got rejected from annenberg too ..</p>

<p>would it be any different if we would have applied undeclared ?</p>

<p>hmmmm i wonder .</p>

<p>I don't know. The guy who I interviewed me said they try their best to consider you for undeclared if you can't put you into the program. But who honestly knows...</p>

<p>yeah i heard that you could still be admitted to the college of letters and sciences .. but WHO KNOWS .. bc i'm sure it's even more competitive to get into the school of communications .. oh well .. we may never know . but things happen for a reason .</p>

<p>wow look at all these ppl with fantastic stats getting rejected!! :(</p>

<p>This is REALLY not right!</p>

<p>Decision: Rejected</p>

GPA: 3.8 uw / 4.4 w
Rank: top 5%

Counselor Rec: probably generic... dont know her too well
Hook (if any): 1st generation college student,
Location/Person:
State or Country: CA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Middle Eastern (had to put down White?)
Gender: Male
Other Factors:
Extracurriculars: key club, multicultural club, volunteer work and things of that sort
Why I think I was accepted/deferred: because the world hates me</p>

<p>applied to seven schools and got into San Diego State and Cal Poly SLO... I should go start digging my grave right now</p>

<p>what would something compelling be to bring up in an appeal, i doubt i'm actually going to do one because were going to be on spring break until the 16th so it would be difficult to get an official transcript.</p>

<p>I agree...it all seems so random....kind of depressing really</p>

<p>4 years of hard work, all for this little game of crapchute!</p>

<p>wdf is USC trying to do this year?</p>

<p>Do they NOT understand that the kids they've admitted with perfect GPA, SAT's probably WON'T end up there?</p>

<p>I got waitlisted/Spring 2008. too bad I cant go for sure now since my dad wasnt even considering it, even if it was an acceptance... :( oh well, Im still sad. I got rejected by NYU :(</p>

<p>Accepted.
Stats:
SAT: 640 V 770 M 720 W
SAT IIs: 740 Chinese 750 Math II 720 Math I 690 Physics
GPA: 3.7 uw / 4.1 w (But when I visited USC, they said they would add points to my GPA because my school was hard. Like .2. Or maybe .1.
Rank: no ranking, but I would guess anywhere from top 25% to top 10%
Subjective:
Essays: no grammatical mistakes, talked about something relevant to prompt.
Teacher Recs: good I think. I gave them to teachers whose classes I worked the hardest in.
Counselor Rec: he knew me well, (and made a couple phone calls for me) so I assume that they were honest, but good.
Hook (if any): Asian 2nd generation college student. Wait, that's not a hook. Actually I go to Choate Rosemary Hall. I think that should be a hook. Go look it up on CC.
Location/Person:
State or Country: CA
School Type: Prep
Ethnicity: Chinese/Southeast Asian/Singaporean
Gender: Male
Other Factors:
Extracurriculars: Boy Scouts of America, Young Democrats, Chess Club (talk about dorkiness), Cross Country, Piano for a good amount of time, Investment Club, School's News Publication, starting up a "Homeless survival kit" project in San Francisco.
Why I think I was accepted/deferred: because I applied for the Resident Honors Program and I didn't try to get into any hard programs. I'm undeclared.</p>

<p>So in short, my stats were basically the same as those who were rejected. I'll leave the interpretation up to you guys. I have to come up with another paper topic for english because my first one was rejected.</p>

<p>good part about being on spring break: i'm in hawaii</p>

<p>bad part about being on spring break: i don't know about my decision until april 8th</p>

<p>sad part about spring break: i am on this website while i'm in hawaii</p>

<p>rejected :(
don't really feel like posting stats......
I guess it's time to move on.........................</p>

<p>i think applying for annenberg plus only having one rec is the kiss of doom...cause thats 3 of us rejected with good/great stats that did that</p>

<p>2160 SAT, SAT2math-760, lit-780,5's on 2 AP's, 3.7 uw gpa, 4 yrs varsity softball...my other stats are on the decisions thread</p>
