^ i don't know either (i am not going to appeal...) since i ripped both pages into pieces and threw them away

as long as we're scrutinizing our rejections, i don't think we should put too much emphasis on our gpa and sat scores. granted they are important, but they can only tell so much about an applicant. i don't know anyone here personally so i can only make judgements based on what you post here on CC. but i think where many of us went wrong here was during the subjective parts of the application such as ECs, essays, recs, etc.

i believe that alentia is being modest when she says that she does not really have any hooks. just by looking at her ECs, her writing skills must have impressed the admissions officers. from her post, it seems that she really made an honest effort in conveying the full reflection of her capabilities. her story and essays seemed to have won the committee over during the decision making process.

even though some of us had higher scores, there is absolutely no way we can compare ourselves to other accepted applicants with lower scores, because we do not know the full story behind each applicant. many, including me, have made the mistake of relying too much on scores and that is where i think we went wrong (at least for me anyways). USC can see that accepted applicants will succeed at their university based on what is written and portrayed by the application process. many of us probably had what it took to bring intelligence, diveresity, and creativity to USC but failed to express it effectively in the application.

Rejected, fresh "outta" the mailbox :D
In my opinion... they're missing out, but that's for you to decide ;D

It's okay though, I got into my #1 school a few weeks ago! University of Michigan, Ann Arbor College of engineering! Proud to be a wolverine... GOOOO BLUE. It just get's me wondering as to what would of happened if U MICH REJECTED ME! Phew...

Anyway, I am still wondering why I didn't get accepted.... I sent in Part 1 as soon as they would let me in I believe October? I showed extreme, sincere interest & my essay(s) for them were really good. I spent a good amount of time on them...

It doesn't bother me, but I sure as hell am curious :D Sorry to all the others that weren't accepted... Keep doing what you do and prove that they made an error in the judgement of your potential.

Ry

i totally agree with you main. wow i'm really really fired up now... i am definetely appealing, and if that doesnt work i'm just going to transfer from Chapman, damnit I thought I had done my best to convey my passion for film, and dedication to the school, I poured my soul into my cinematic arts essays, this really ****es me off. oh well time to write a damn good appeal letter.

024, I think you're exactly right.

Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congrats to acceptances, good luck to waitlistee's, sorry to rejections. It's okay, I'm fine with being rejected due to the fact I've been accepted to UMich (in-state), Emory, and NYU Stern. . Not going to lie though, I'm kind of surprised I didn't get in o.O. College decisions this year have been quite confusing...waitlist BC, reject USC, reject CMU, accept w/ 7.5k NYU Stern, accept Emory, accept UMich, accept Lehigh, waitlist WashU...

found out I was rejected today..... on APRIL 4TH!!!!!!! that really pis ses me off. If they say by April 1, it should be by April 1st. In a way though, I'm sort of glad, I didn't really want to go there anyways. I got into NYU !!!!

p.s. I thought it was hilarious how in my rejection letter they were talking about appealling the decision. (If you want to appeal, that's fine, but what follows is just my opinion)
:: if they didn't want me, that's fine, but why should i go begging back to them. sorry they missed out on me, now I will never look back at usc.</p>

Go NYU!!!!!

sorry for the rant.... had to get it out of my system.

Mainevent...
"I'll transfer to USC after a year. I wouldn't if I were majoring in any program, but they have the best screenwriting program in the world, and that's what I want to do."

My daughter will apply as a transfer student too. She's majoring in broadcast journalism and is quite determined to get the degree from USC. Their film and broadcast majors are just really strong...

this is so crazy!!! i mean im looking at your stats and there really good, then you see some people that got accepted and they are not nearly as good as yours. i guess it goes to show that usc admission is really random. its starting to make me nervous about applying

yeah i haven't even heard yet and i live in socal lol.

Yeah, well if you think that that's not bad enough, I called the cinematic arts school today just to ask them if I had been accepted and guess what? I HAD BEEN!!! Isn't that the most irritating thing in the world? The most prestigious film school in the world thinks I'm good enough for them but the university doesn't? That is messed up. And the screenwriting major gets about 7% acceptances, from what I hear. The girl was so nice when she told me, she even said that an official decision should be mailed out soon. I so fired up now....

wow...so you haven't heard from USC but the film school says you are in? Congrats and that's crazzzzy weird

all i can say to you all is not to stress too much over being rejected; usc's decisions often don't make "sense," by conventional standards. i applied last year and was rejected. i appealed to no avail. you could be the kid with the genius-level IQ that worked your butt off all 4 years to maintain a 4.0+ with excellent test scores and ecs... and still get rejected - don't take it personally.

i applied this year as a transfer applicant; i will ALWAYS love usc, but i've grown to love my current school just as much. if it weren't for the fact that my school doesn't offer courses in my preferred major, i'd stay here in a heartbeat.

if you're REALLY interested in going to usc, my advice is that you make it a priority to create a collegiate record so strong that it leaves no doubt about your ability to succeed. aaand don't knock opportunities at other school - if you have an open mind, you might be suprised (the professors and deans i've met this year have written incredible rec letters for me and will likely be writing my rec letters for med school).

Oh, no, no, no, no. I HAVE heard from the university. And they REJECTED me, even though the film school had accepted me. Isn't that the most crap you've ever heard in your life?

wow. that is the biggest piece of crap ever. aren't they going to reconsider?

Well, I certainly appealed; though I didn't know the film school had accepted me when I did. See, I just called the Cinematic Arts school today and I sent off my appeals letter yesterday, although it had been written for about 2 weeks. So, I couldn't include that in my letter. I do hope they reconsider, but if not, I'm gonna transfer from Loyola Marymount. I should have applied to Chapman, but I already have job offers and internships lined up in LA. Plus, it's Hollywood. I mean, hello....

woot, i got rejected from my #1 ~.~...Georgia Tech...
