This is clearly not the case.... they've got a pretty messed up admissions board; I think some of them are seriously smoking some crack. Anyways, Mel, did you get all of your stuff turned in okay? I hear that we're supposed to hear back by the 26th if we got accepted, but by the 30th if not. Here's for another agonizing two weeks.... so the rat race begins again- and I thought it was over.... lucky me

i know right! ya i got it all in and the lady told me the 27th if it was overturned which is not right according to the other info. she aslo said we'd hear on or around that day, not like alot sooner. i was hpin to hear like this week. wishful thinking.

and they're going to call us... what if we don't hear the phone ring when they call or something... lol i hope they wouldn't be like oh well f that... moving on to the next kid... haha

keep your phones with you at all times ;]

I am a current USC student, majoring in EE.
I can't believe that USC is rejecting some really strong applicants

A lot of people from my school are also appealing their USC decisions. I really can't believe how random admissions was to some applicants.

ughhh i really hope those people who are appealing really really want to go to USC and aren't just appealing cause they think they were gyped or something... if they didn't get in and don't even care about the school they need to get over it and ruin it for other people who really relly want to get in by taking their spots :[

but ya as far as rejecting strong applicants goes... i know some people who got in and when i heard i couldn't believe it... they weren't that impressive especially compared to some of the strong applicants who got rejected. :/

for those who were rejected, were any of you legacy students by chance?

Wow.. After reading all those posts I must say that I was shocked to see some of the people USC rejected this year. I guess I was pretty lucky to get in there. Those of you who weren't accepted can't take it too seriously though. I know what it's like, I was rejected at my top 2 schools where I really thought I was "supposed to go".. But moving on and accepting the reality of the situation really helped me cope..

ha yeah it sucks and i'm still hoping for an overturn..but i can't go w/o the NMF presidential so i emailed my the adcom for my state to ask if im still eligible...it's just weird that they normally pay NMF's 17,000 a year to go there and i didn't even get in. but it's been over a week now and i can see the silver lining for sure now. if i don't get in i'm going to arizona state honors college, on a full ride with room and board, so my parents will pay virtually nothing, plus now im considering walking on (trying out) for the asu softbal team..ranked 9 in the nation..when before i thought i was for sure done with softball. so it will all work out for all of us. everything happens for a reason.

not that USC still isnt my #1 perfect school.

I appealed :-P

If I get in, I'm going there!

If I don't... well I guess I'm going to UCSB for a year and then transfering as soon as possible.

And I really really REALLY want to go to USC scarletstar89 :-P

I think out of all the people who were accepted at my school (maybe 7 or 8?) only ONE is going to USC. >:(

haha i know exactly what you mean chinchilla, i'm definitely going if i get in, but ya i think 10 or 12 got in at my school, and ONE is definitely going... maybe one or two more... but i doubt it.

but ya if it doesn't work out for me... then I'm going to Chapman for a year and transfering

That's another thing that's also part of the appeals process. See, they already have a pretty good number of the students who are going to accept admission and have already coordinated the number or acceptances and the number of classes according to this number, which increases every year to a certain extent. However, the appeals process is a chance for error; say not enough students accepted admission, they can offer it to a few more kids through this process, which is precisely why a lot of the times, the appeals letters don't contain anything overwhelmingly compelling; most of the time, they are simply a reiteration of what has already been addressed in the original application and an expression of continued interest in USC. I'm telling you, you've got to be a hell of a writer to sway the committee if you weren't "qualified" to begin with. This is why the percentage of students out of the rejection pool is so dauntingly low, because they can't accept many more students.... Just some food for thought, ya'll.

i'm hoping goin in undeclared will help get an overturn..cause there are 1300 kids in annenberg (not sure if its in the comm major or total), so only like 300-400 kids can go there (class sizes are all less than 15), so im pretty sure that might have been the biggest reason behind my rejection..i hope so anyway

thanks for that bit of compelling information main lol

but you're right... you need to be a very good writer and have an alumni with actual connections to the school right you a nice letter ;D

camjg-

Both of my parents went to USC and I got rejected
(my stats are basically the same as everyone else on this thread)

i'm pretty sure it's because I applied to annenberg

my daughter was accepted to Annenberg but its for the spring semester. anyone else accepted for spring? if so what to do in the fall?

what are you going to do for the fall? my daughter got into USC spring too? not sure what to do.

camjg, yea, im a biggg time legacy student and my uncle is a pretty big donor...hahah, makes me seem pretty dumb for gettin rejected
