The Renaissance and Global Scholarship 2013 Finalists

Hello there people. First of all congratulations to all those who got accepted.

So the day before yesterday I came to know that I have been chosen as a finalist for this full-tuition scholarship. Now I want to who else have also been selected. I hope that getting to know each other before we arrive at the campus won't be a bad thing.
International students who are chosen please raise your voice.

BTW it will be awesome to get some tips about the interview that's going to take place at Rochester. Some experience will indeed give us more confidence. Past Scholars are requested to give us information.

Not a past scholar but D2 was Ren finalist 4 years ago.

Your 2 days will be scheduled and chock full of activities: bus tour of the city, campus tour, reception with UR officials, meet & greet with other finalists, interview with a panel of administrators and students, etc.

You will be hosted by a current student in a dorm room and will likely end up sleeping on the floor or a couch. You will need to bring your own linens (sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, towel) as well your interview outfit. Dressing up for your interview is appropriate.

You will receive a meal pass so you can eat in any of UR’s dining halls.

If you will be arriving in Rochester the day before the official interview period (activities start at 10 am, IIRC), you will need to let your contact person know so they can find someone to host you that first night.

If you are flying in to Rochester, or will be arriving by train, you will need to let your contact know you arrival time in advance so arrangements can be made to get you shuttled to campus. There will be shuttles to take you back to the airport/train station after the interviews are over. (Or you can take a cab. Fare is $10.)

You will need to make your own travel arrangements. Keep your receipts so you can get reimbursed. Depending on how far/how expensive your travel costs are, the reimbursement may or may not not cover 100% of travel costs.

Interviews vary from person to person, and depend on your interests and who is on your panel. No set questions. Interviews last about 30-45 minutes.

Scholarship winners are usually notified by mid-April.

I recently found out that I am a finalist too. I’m still pretty much in shock but extremely excited.

Hey Indie13! Congratulations for being a finalist! :)
