The Return of AGSAABS!

I am a parent and I wanted to say thank you for your posts from last year’s application season. I learned a lot from you and your fellow CCers. It helped me to understand what my daughter would experience since she began this process last August.

I am wondering what happened to you during the 08-09 school year (and I am including your 2012 classmates as well). What advice do you have for this group (those applying for admission for the 09-10 school year), once they move beyond the Master Acceptance List and actually go to school?

Hi! I'm glad I was able to help! :] I know how hard the process is, but at least it pays off in the end!

My school year has been great so far! It's a little hard, but I like it. Some advice -
TIME MANAGEMENT I was pretty bad about this in the beginning of the year. We have study hall for two hours every day, which really helps. Everyone should make sure they have enough time to do homework.
And for friends, you shouldn't stick to one group too early, because I did, and then I ended up being friends with completely different people a few weeks later. Just branch out and try to be as friendly as possible your first few days. And don't worry about making friends, no one really knows anyone, and everyone's nervous. Pretty much everyone is friendly and nice! Don't worry!
I can't really think of anything else, but I'd be happy to answer any other questions!

I have many questions, but I would like to know about the following…
Was it difficult for you find enough time to study and get work done? Do you use the library, your room or another space to get your schoolwork finished?

Did you find it difficult to balance your social life (sans mom/dad) with your schoolwork?

Are you involved in many school activities? If you are involved in sports or another activity, how did you make it all work?

I don't think it's too difficult, because Study Hall is enough time. I usually go to my room, but sometimes I go to the library.

It's sometimes hard with my social life, but around big tests, I make myself study. It's a little too much freedom in the beginning to get used to.

I'm in a few clubs and sports, but it's good, because the sports are all at the same time, so you have enough time for sports and homework. I'm never rushed. You just have to manage time good.

Random Question:
Have you felt home sick at all? Do you get enough time to see your family? How did your parents adjust to BS?

Which program (content area) is the strongest and which is the weakest at your school?

Do students talk about the financial crisis? Do they worry that it will affect their ability to remain at school?

I've been homesick a few times. But, I get to see my parents a lot. Usually, once a week. My parents adjusted pretty well I think.

All the programs are pretty much the same, becasue we have new buildings in every subject pretty much.

No one really talks about money at all, but I'm not really sure.

Your new science building is spiffy! Thanks for sharing!

I know! I'm so lucky to go to Peddie. You're welcome!

It is wonderful to see you are as enthusiastic as ever!
