After working so hard and then for the past 2 months flinching, tossing and turning at every burp that mentions your boarding schools, the tables have now turned 180 degrees. The schools now really want you to want them. If you wrote a first choice letter, then by all means honor it, especially if someone wrote a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Now come the revisits which are vitally important to those who remain undecided and lucky enough to be in a pickle on which school to choose. On the revisits you will experience a much more receptive atmosphere from the the students and faculty. They accepted you because their expertise tells them that you can do the work and be a constructive member of the school community. Nonsense to second guess your self, they want you and you can do the work. The revisits are extremely helpful in gaining the personal insight, that so called gut feeling that this would be the right school for you. Figure out the logistics for the revisits, attend and soak them up for all their worth. Congratulations and enjoy the journey!

Is there a “standard” agenda for revisits?

We have not stepped foot on any campus yet, but are fortunate enough to have some choices to make (my child is, anyway). We are going to make the trip, but are curious: What should we expect?

Should we/can we request meetings with particular faculty or coaches in areas of particular interest?

Thanks for any input.

^Same question.

Also, what do you wear? Heh, I’m a girl.

Every school programs the revisit differently. There is no one correct format. Usually they pair the you up with a student of the same gender and similar class. You may be with that individual most of the day while parents have a different venue and meet up for lunch or dinner. Some schools start the revisit late on Friday and it goes through Saturday afternoon games.

Check the school website for attire. It is exciting, so enjoy.

Thanks! I was surprised that revisits ended at 3:00 PM, I had always thought they were overnights. But thinking about it now, it does make sense that they’re not.

Thacher has an overnight visit, and I believe I’ve heard of at least one other school that does that, too. (Since Thacher is a small school, it is very doable - not sure how a school like Exeter or Andover, with hundreds of admitted students, could manage it!)

Exeter is day program. We are going there on 26th. Very excited!
