The Rivalry Thread

In honor of college football's rivalry week. Pretty self-explanatory...state your school, your rival(s), and what makes your school so much better.

School: UNC-Chapel Hill

Rival #1: Duke

Why we're better: UNC owns Duke in basketball and football, and pretty much every other sport out there. Our girls are hotter, our guys are classier, and our town is better.

Michael Jordan saw the light. So did Harrison Barnes.

Rival #2: NC State

Why we're better: Academics, athletics, campus life-you name it, we've got the wuffies beat. Raleigh is a great town though, and the NC State people are pretty down to earth. Unfortunately for them, however, they hate UNC students with a passion and UNC students could care less about State.

School: Alabama

Rival #1: Auburn

Why we’re better: We’re a bigger school with much better science and engineering programs. Also we’re #2 in the nation in football and just beat them in the Iron Bowl!

Rival #2: Tennessee

Why we’re better: They have Lane Kiffin…

Not to mention Bruce Pearl…

Odd that both of your posts semi-involve my school :)

My school: Iowa State

Rival #1: Iowa

Why we’re better: We have an actual campus (not spread out in the city), and while we don’t win quite as much we also don’t get arrested quite as much (Iowa had around 30 arrests on their football team in a 2.5 year period!!–everything from underage drinking to rape & assault charges). We’re classier, our basketball team will own Iowa this year, and football is turned around under our new head coach. And knowing the kids from my HS that go to Iowa (some I was really good friends w/ in HS)…I wouldn’t want to spend more time there than absolutely necessary. And we’re not overrun by Chicago suburbia. UI is turning into University of Illinois–West Campus.

Cuse: congrats on getting Barnes!! UNC is my 2nd favorite school and I was so close to going there ($$$ was the difference), and I’m tired of ISU fans being little babies and complaining about the Barnes signing.

pramirez: I LOVED seeing Bama beat Auburn today. Chizik left our team high and dry and showed how much of a tool he is, and that clock management he had today was nothing new to ISU fans. He and his assistants blew so many games for us the last two years, glad we got a real coach now. More wins this year (6) than in the two years Chiz was here combined (5)!

School: Udub.

Rival: Wazzu.

Why we’re better: Seattle versus … Pullman? Come on.

School: Ohio State

Rival: If you need to be told, crawl out from under your rock.
(Okay, Umich)

Why: 6 wins in a row, including a #1 vs #2 game of the year duel.

long.897: I’m pretty sure Forcier went home and cried. I know I did after watching him!

Well, State got the best of us today. Bummer.

Lots of exciting games this week, though. Definitely a rivalry week to remember.

My School: UCLA

Rival: u$¢

Why they $u¢: The “$¢hool” prides itself on producing arrogant *******s. Once a local academic joke, the “$¢hool” has recently risen in the rankings due to an increase in emphasis on finances and by throwing money at kids with high test scores, much to the chagrin of many alumni whose kids are forced to attend ASU, Oregon, and similar schools. The “$¢hool” is also heralded as a private school, where students don’t have to interact with the “unwashed” you find at “government institutions.” Fittingly, the “$¢hool” mascot is the trOJan, history’s most famous losers, who were done in by their own arrogance and sheer stupidity. Their most famous alum stood trial for (alleged) double murder and was later sent to jail for armed robbery, simply trying to recover “his stuff.”

Disclaimer: A surprising amount of the above is actually the opinion of USC supporters of all origin. The rest is undeniable fact.

My School: Michigan State

Rival: University of Michigan

Why: Doesn’t matter, we beat them this year in football and they didn’t win a real game afterwards, plus they didn’t make it to a bowl :D. Hellz yah! But I digress.

School: UW Madison

Rival: Minnesota

Why We’re Better: Wanna know why Wisconsin is so windy? Cause Minnesota sucks and Illinois blows. Plus, the U of M is the safety school for all the UW rejects.

Rival: Iowa

Why We’re Better: Cause we’re not located in Iowa.

School: university of north dakota (UND)

Rival: north dakota state university (NDSU)

why we suck: UND is freezing, no one cares about academics, everyone here has a single sport fixation (hockey), people just drink…drink…drink…

Current School: Johnson & Wales University
Rival: No Effin’ Clue
Why My School Sucks: Because we are D3 in every sport except Sailing where we are D1, NO Football program also. I could careless about having school pride here.

Past School: Purdue (BOILER UP!)
Rival: Indiana Univ.
Why They Suck: IU thinks they are better than Purdue in sports but got whooped in Football the past 2 years and had their butts handed to them in Basketball and again will this year. Purdue parties better and has the better ladies.

Jimgotkp: we have a lot in common :P

its good to know that someone else out there isnt so happy with their school either

Yeah man lol. Saw your post and saw the diff. on the “Why They Suck” part that I thought it was the same for me so I copied you lol. Too bad the reason why I’m at this pretty crappy school is because of finances. Oh how much having a 0 EFC can help you when choosing a school… Wish I was back in Indiana… Why are you there though? Same boat as me with financials?

um yeah kinda. Im there because I personally have no money. My parents are well off but refuse to pay a cent for school (actually they insult me by giving me $750 a year!!). So I got a nice scholarship by my hometown college (UND) and im attending it for free, but boy do i hate it…

thats my situation in a nut shell.

Thats terrible… I guess my family’s situation is different from yours then. Dad’s been disabled for 4 years now and I’m paying for my own education since they can’t afford paying mine at all. $110k in debt by graduation now compared to the $200k at Purdue.

School: Duke

Rival #1: (ONLY in sports…) UNC Chapel Hill

Why we’re better: Do I really need to explain? I did say UNC is better ONLY in sports…

OH!
:D

www.dukerejects.com

School: Stanford

Arch-rival: Cal

Why is Stanford better? Because the students are not bitter about being rejected from their first choice school.

School: Clarkson

Archrival: St. Lawrence

Why we are better:
They are SLUzers, SLUts, and just overall terrible stuck up hos.
They suck at hockey and lacrosse.
We will have jobs when we graduate.
