Reading all the posts is making me sad. S is going to college in September. I am reading through U Roch threads for D who is a junior and looking at colleges especially UR for engineering STEM classes. Lonely days to come but I can also see the positive perks. No stressing in the mornings to get everyone out the door and packing lunches:(

If Lakemom and MADad were in this thread we would have all the University of Rochester CC superstars accounted for! I feel like I am amongst forum legends.

anghad - my last is a current junior too - almost finished with junior year (of high school). Life is going to be very different very soon. I’ve sent two off to college so far (middle is at UR). It was an adjustment for both, but that last one will be something else - the end of a major stage in life.

I’m not even sure I’m going to stay teaching in our high school at that point or switch to something totally different. I go back and forth over it.

I’m here. I’m subscribed to the UR forum Seeing your child move on to college is bittersweet but knowing they are in good hands at UR is very affirming. The best is when your student comes home and says that they are so happy they chose UR, that they feel like they fit in with the kids and they like their classes.

And to answer your original question finalchild, the Roc curriculum allows my son who is an engineering major to have some flexibility in his schedule and take one class each semester that does not have to be about engineering.

Thanks Lakemom.

And eyemamom, thank you for your nice note. Very much appreciated. I am looking forward to many visits to UR and “the city”!

If you want to know more about Rochester - the “Roc” - I suggest RocWiki. It’s highly incomplete but gives a flavor.

And I highly recommend going to the public market on Saturday morning in nice weather. It’s an event.

Thanks Lergnom. Will definitely check out both.

Hi my son will be an incoming yellow jacket as well!
So happy all this deciding and waiting is over. He attended the
2017 experience on 4/19 he spent the night on the 18.
He loved it! I’m so happy for him, he’s worked hard and deserves to
Go to a great school. He’s already applied for a job. Good luck to your
D. What’s she pursuing there?

Congrats wallstreet!

My guy is finishing his freshman year and will be assisting with the freshmen next year (living in Sue B). This summer he’s staying there working in a lab (paid lab work that will also carry over into the fall). He definitely loves the place.
