I'm here at Penn. I'm getting decent grades. I've been battling depression for some time now and I'm losing focus a lot with things and I've been thinking a lot... anyhow, I can't take time off of school nor do I want to (the semester's almost over) because I had to do that before and I'm afraid if I tell anyone in CAPS or whatever that I'm feeling like the "S" word that I'll get kicked out of school... So I really have no options here except to just bear this and I can't. I need advice, suggestions, whatever because I'm not sure I'm going to make it until the end of the semester. Thanks.

Your life is more important than school, dude. Talk to someone right away. If you don’t feel like discussing it with CAPS, talk to your RA or GA, a friend, a professor, anyone you feel comfortable with. Good luck!

Not a ■■■■■ ____ Penn wannabe.

it’s not worth hiding under a facade if you’re falling apart more and more every day

seek help any way you can; i’m told caps is really fantastic and genuinely helpful

and to be honest, if you’re struggling in this way, you deserve to recover without the added unnecessary stress of school - you can take medical leave and come back without any problems

I took medical leave before… didn’t help at all. School is the only place I have to “live”. CAPS tries but if they know I’m feeling like this I’m certain I won’t be allowed to return to school. I don’t want to take a leave; the semester’s almost done with, but I don’t know what I’m going to do.

can you rely on friends or loved ones to get you through?

you need people to watch out for you, even when the coming weeks get crazy

Give RAP-line a call - they’re there for this kind of thing. It’ll just give you someone to talk to about this kind of stuff
