I am going to be a senior next year and am growing ever more concerned about the college admissions process. My top choice school is Duke, specifically the Pratt School of Engineering to major in biomedical engineering. Does anybody, possibly somebody accepted to Duke or somebody in the admissions office, or somebody familliar with the "admissions game", know how my stats stack up/what I need to do to increace my chances of acceptence?
*I just recieved my SAT scores: 800 Reading, 780 math, 680 writing. Taking SAT II in October.
*In terms grades, I have only two marks on my transcript that are not A's: a B in one semester of English 11 honors, and a B in algebra 1 honors, which I took in 7th grade but for some reason is still on there. I have however, recieved A's in all subsequent math classes, including AP calculus in the 10th grade. As such my unweighted GPA is >3.9 and weighted GPA is roughly 5. My class rank is well within the top 10 students.
*Taken AP Calc sophmore year, recieved a 5 on AP exam, took AP Chem Junior year, waiting for score but likely a 5. Optioned for AP English, AP Physics C and AP Bio next year.
*Through my junior year, I attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts, double-majoring in writing and instrumental music (jazz and classical upright bass). I have recieved numerous awards in writing, including a silver award (nationally) from the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards and the Corbett-Mayerson award, my school's higest award for artistic achievement in any major. Next year, I was also in line to be first chair bassist. Getting back to GPA, arts classes are not weighted honors, so they actually bring down my weighted GPA, as it should be closer to 6.
*I have been an editor for both the school newspaper and school literary magazine.
*Member of NHS since 10th grade.

During my junior year at Performing Arts, my father had to move to Atlanta, and I had to complete my junior year living by myself. Over the summer, I had to move to Atlanta and start my senior year at North Springs High, an arts and sciences magnet school, and I'm not sure what next year will bring, though I'm fairly certain that, because I will lack seniority, I will not get to be editor in chief of either the magazine or the paper, and it is possible I will not get to be first chair bassist. But I figure that being a dual magnet student (double-major biochemistry/pre-med and music), as well as the excellent college essay this could become, might make this work out in my favor.

I will also be performing several internships before college: if all goes well, one with a cluster of radio stations, one with a newspaper, and one with a hospital.

So, the sixty-four thousand dollar question: what are my odds of admission to Duke, early decision or otherwise?
