So here's the story:
On this year's PSAT, I received a perfect "80" on the CR section for the PSAT. Indeed, on the practice tests my scores ranged from 750-800 for the SAT. It was my "carry" section. Imagine my shock when I woke up to a 710 CR on Thursday morning! It is certainly great score, but I know I could've and should have done better. However, my other scores compensated for this, and went up. Now CR is my worst section, according to College Board. I am not worried in the prep for it. I think if I could increase my score by 50-90 points, that would significantly help my college application.

One problem:
The SAT is on a saturday morning. So are track/cross country meets. And I absolutely CAN NOT miss track meets for the ext two SAT dates. That only leaves next fall, in which case I can not do October or November, because those are the two biggest Cross Countyr meets. Also, I am a captain, so I am reluctant to miss running in a meet (if I were allowed to in the first place).

So should I retake the SAT to boost m y SAT score? I would have to do it in december... Or is my score fine as it is? Also, I partially mexican, so with an SAT in the mid 2200s, am I fie as is when applying to Harvard, Stanford, and others?

In short:
I would love to retake the SAT. But I have a paucity of opportunities to do so. Is it worth missing a meet? Is it worth it even if I didn't have to miss a meet?

Higher CR will look better. 760+ CR > 710 CR. How important are your track/XC meets in the long term view of things? Are you a recruit-able athlete? Does your captaincy depend on your attendance of meets?

If it isn’t critical for you to be at every meet, I think it’s a good idea to retake the SAT (especially if it’s your second time). You don’t want to take the SAT more than twice if possible.

You did say, however, that you “absolutely can not” miss track meets and the first two biggest cross country meets. I would take a moment to gauge the relative importance of everything. You don’t want to leave the admissions process with any regret :)

Well for the June and November sittings… that’s the state meet. And my goal is to be all state(at least in a relay for track). I think I could walk on at most schools. The October sitting is possible, but still, it is usually the time of our biggest invitational. So really, there’s only one opportunity in season.

Do you know anything about the december sitting? Will I be able to see my scores before colleges see them? Do you know of any way to take an alternate test date, so that way I could take the SAT again before the EA deadline is over?

I believe that you’re only allowed to test on Sunday for religious reasons. I don’t think there’s any other way that you could take the SAT before the EA deadline.

I’m not sure about the December administration and viewing scores. You should post that question in the College Admissions section, or check the deadline for whichever EA schools you’re applying to.

This comes down to your choice. Walking on is different from being recruited. Planning to walk - on won’t help your admission chances. Also, you don’t need to attend high school meets to succeed as a walk - on. Colleges have will hold try - outs. I run XC varsity too, so I think I understand your dilemma a little. But either way, think long term, and make the choice you’ll be happy with :)
