Post your schedule for next year and I will give you some advice that might be helpful. Be sure to add your strengths in different subjects and what are other options available in your school.

Junior 2013-14:

IB HL English 1
IB HL Chem 1
IB HL French 5
IB SL Math (no HL)
IB SL Physics
IB TOK
AP Physics C
Community college math course (i.e. Calc III)

I’m really enjoying Honors Physics right now which is why I’m doubling up on that next year (plus the SL and the AP exams I’ve heard are way different). I’m in AB Calc right now but taking the BC exam in May. I don’t want to take the IB prescribed ‘sixth subject’ and I also enjoyed Honors Chem which is why I’m taking two sciences. English HL is mandatory.

Thank you so much! :)

*sorry, forgot to add that my school doesn’t have HL physics either (on my phone so I can’t edit :/)

Senior:
IB History HL 2
IB English HL 2
IB French HL 6
AP BC Calc
AP Physics C
AP Psych
AP Stat

Math is my best subject and all my teachers have recommended me for BC. French is getting a lot harder and I kind of want to drop it but I’ll regret it. I have to take IB English and IB History because they’re 2 year classes. IB English isn’t that bad, but History is death-without the advantages. It was my first C ever and I’m allowed to drop it, but I won’t because it’ll look bad. AP Physics is what I’m worried about because I took Honors as a sophomore so I need to remember it and I’ll be in Calc concurrently so I’ll need to learn that. AP Stat and Psych are my 2 electives which idk about yet.
My school offers most of the APs and a lot of IBs so I’m not going to type it all out, but you get the idea. Also, I probably want to go into Chem which is why I’m in AP Chem this year. And I refuse to take Bio cause I HATE it. Any other questions, just ask me

Senior Year:

AP English Literature
AP Politics and Government
AP Psychology
AP Statistics
Anatomy and Physiology Honors
Latin IV Honors
Study Hall

Strengths: Social Science
Weaknesses: Math (my only other options for Senior Year are AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, or no math at all.)

Senior:
H English 12*
Economics / Government / Religious Studies*
Advanced Calculus
AP Stats
AP Bio
AP Chem
Free Period
*required

My main concern is whether I should take Spanish 6 instead of AP Chem. I’m in Spanish 5 this year and I’ll be taking the AP. I’d rather take AP Chem since I’m more of a math and science type of guy, but I’ve heard Spanish 6 is a blow off. Another question I have is should I take more electives like engineering and microbiology instead of taking a free period. A free period is common at my school, and you have to jump through some hoops to take more than 6 and 1/3 classes.

I’m sending a PM to everyone that posts in this thread!

Junior:
IB Eng HL
IB Bio HL
IB Chem HL
IB Geography SL
IB French SL
IB Math SL

I’m a year ahead in the regular curriculum for French, Chem and English so that the transition to IB won’t be too harsh. I’m taking Physics this semester to get rid of a university entrance requirement. I haven’t taken any math courses in school this year at all. I’m kinda interested in taking AP Calc, Stats, Physics and/or AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics; not all of them, maybe one or two. I guess the question I want to ask is how I should spend my summer: summer school or online school math to work towards an AP exam sometime, summer school or online school physics to work towards AP Physics sometime, self studying micro/macro for the AP exam in 2014, or going to a summer program.

Senior schedule: DE is Dual enrollment with local CC
1 semester
DE Comp 1
DE Speech
DE College Algebra
DE Pysics
DE Spanish 1
DE Environmental Science
Anatomy
World History
Early Choir

2 semester
DE Comp 2
DE Government
DE Statistics
DE Calculus
DE Spanish 2
Dramatic literature
Anatomy
World History
Early choir

I go to a very small 200 student school so this is basically the only classes I have left to take in the curiculum that are challenging. Dramatic lit, anatomy, and world history could be changed to something else, but not much wiggle room :/

Junior 2013-14:

IB HL English 1
IB HL History 1
IB SL Chem
Honors Spanish 4
IB Pre-Calc
IB HL Biology 1
IB TOK/EE

I’m a science person. I enjoyed taking Biology freshman year. I’m doing descent this year in Chemistry. Doubling up on my science because I didn’t want to take group six subjects. My school doesn’t offer HL chem, so my only choice was SL. Also the only IB spanish classes are 5 and up.

Oh yeah, thinking ahead, would it be better to take Math Studies or Math SL?

Junior:

-AP Biology/Honors Chem (it’s a dual class thing, 1 day we do AP Bio, the next Chem, so on and so forth)
-Spanish III
-Algebra II/Trig
-AP Language
-APUSH

Strengths–history, English. Science (somewhat).
Weaknesses–math

I need to take Spanish III, and although math is a weakness, I want to try and get ahead either next year or senior year. I also love my journalism class but think I’ll have to sacrifice. I have the option of taking college English, and I could always just take Honors Chem.

Senior Year
Computer Programs* (college class)
Honors Latin IV
Algebra (college)
Public Speaking (college)
AP Lit
AP US Government
German I (college)
Web Page Design
PE**

Required for graduation
*I’ve been getting fat. But I’ve also met all my PE credits and I’m not sure if I should replace it with college Biology.

I’m not a math person. I’m quite horrid at it but only because I never study. English and history are my best subjects. I don’t find them hard at all and it isn’t difficult to finish assignments for those classes. I enjoy computer classes. I don’t find them easy but I don’t find them to be difficult either. It’s just something I like to amuse myself.

My school doesn’t really offer any other classes that interest me or challenges me. I have the chance of taking AP Physics (something that will definitely challenge me) but I don’t feel capable enough to take it. So, if my school allows, I’m going to try to sign up for three college classes if possible. Two which are only for one semester. I’m still not sure if I should add biology or not.

Junior Year:
-Adv. Algebra Trig.*
-APUSH
-AP Language*
-French 3/4
-Chemistry*
-Psychology/DECA/Leadership (Electives)

Strengths: Language arts, history, social science
Weaknesses: Science, Math I’m a semester behind in math, since I failed the second semester of algebra last year, so I had to take that last semester and now i’m taking
the first semester of geometry and plan on taking finishing the rest in the summer so I can just go on to Trig.

*These are the classes that i’m not sure if I want to take at my school, or my local community college with my districts dual-enrollment classes. It’ll quicker and more convenient to take the at the community college, but my school district only pays for 15 credits a quarter, which is 3 classes a quarter. I might take some summer courses this summer too. Help?

Senior year:
1st semester
-Calc. III (dual enroll)
-Discrete Math (dual enroll)
-Honors French III
-Undecided so far (any advice here would be appreciated)
2nd semester
-Calc. IV (dual enroll)
-Linear Algebra (dual enroll)
-Honors French IV
-AP Lit
-AP Stats (self-study)

A lot less APs than this year, so I hope that the dual enrollment makes up for it. Since all of the dual enrollment classes only meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I’m probably gonna go in early on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help peer tutor a French I class and an AP Econ class.

Junior Year:
-APUSH
-Honors English 11 (no AP lang offered :/)
-Honors Physics
-AP Calc BC
-AP Russian
-Neurobio/O Chem (semester courses)
-either Journalism or AP Stat

yeah my main problem is whether I should do journalism or AP Statistics. I’m currently part of the online school newspaper, which doesn’t require being enrolled in journalism, but if I want a position I need to take the class. Maybe I could self-study stat??

Strengths: Humanities, Science
Weaknesses: Math (it’s more of a stigma thing than the subject being difficult, however.)

APs I’m taking this year are Bio and Chem

^ Statistics is super useful in a lot of fields and you may even have to take it in college, in which case you might be able to place out if you get a good score on the AP exam…you won’t be able to place out of anything if you take journalism, so take AP Stats

Senior:

AP English 12
AP Spanish 4
AP Calculus AB
AP Physics
Contemporary Global Issues (1 semester)
Economics (1 semester)
US Government (1 semester)
East Lab (1 semester)

Should I also take the following: AP Statistics, AP US Government, and/or Human Anatomy?
