UVA people do love themselves excessively. Just ask them.

I'm a northener interested in going to a southern school. Would you mind convincing me why I should go through with it Brian? Auburn, UGA, and LSU are the specific ones and I expect to get near full scholarship. Thanks in advance.

I would never go to a school with a population density of less than 8000/sq mi.

Agreed. Well, perhaps if it was a really great school that has all that I want and gives me a nice big scholarship... then I'd reconsider. Otherwise, though, it has to be urban (when doing my college searching, I specifically looked at density, less so population).

nottahtgood-
just curious-- are you applying for the GA Foundation Fellow scholarship? Otherwise, as an OOS, I doubt you'll be looking at a full ride.

Starfleet Academy. I remain loyal to the Klingon Empire.

Emory University.

If you see my location, I am a Sabres fan (hockey).
And I hate the Ottawa Senators. HATE THEM!!!

And they have a goaltender named "Emery".
So. . . Emory U = Hockey treason

I'm not much of a Star Trek fan, but gbesq's post made my day.

gbesq: You just made my day 10x better. Srsly. <3

Wesleyan, Vassar, Reed, Bennington...too left wing.

Converse, Colgate, Stetson, Campbell, St. Joseph's, Webster University, Winston-Salem State U ...too name brandish.

Ball State, Carnegie Mellon, Sac State, Bates, Widner College, Rider College, Fisk U., Salve Regina, Ramapo College...too distracting.

Duke, Butler University, Baker College, King's College too suggestive of a particular job.

Cornell College (Iowa), Notre Dame College (Ohio), Georgetown College (KY), Indiana U. of Pennsylvania, California U of PA., Miami of Ohio, Oakland U. (Michigan), Washington U of St. Louis, Pittsburgh State (Kansas), Transylvania (Kentucky) ...too easy to confuse with the colleges that are similarly named and/or geographically appropriately named.

Any school in New Mexico.

I heard the NE might be banning microwave popcorn, because of the fumes it emits.

If so, nowhere there.

never ever go to Portland Community College

OMG!

<<oh yeah,="" seems="" most="" people="" don't="" want="" to="" go="" those="" stuffy,="" conservative="" 'bob="" jones="" u'="" type="" schools="" either="" (ban="" on="" interracial="" dating,="" any="" takers?)="" or="" military="" schools.="">>
Not to defend the practice, but I hear that the interracial dating ban was imposed only after the parents of a female Asian student sued the school after she had dated a young white man.
I wouldn't be able to stand such a school either -- Bob Jones has also banned movies rated above G. Wikipedia is also banned. I won't make a full list, but this is obviously a bit much for most of us, to say the least...
I have nevertheless grown up in an extremely conservative non-immediate family (my parents are quite the opposite) of defenders of the practices of schools such as Bob Jones and benefactors of Wheaton College (which still, I believe, maintains a ban on dancing), if anyone is familiar with that institution.</oh>
