The screaming thread

Please come here to release a scream of anticipation and frustration and impatience and everything you are feeling because of grad apps.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIHAVESOMUCHWORKINEEDTOBEDOINGBUTINSTEADIAMSTUCKONTHISFORUMAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn’t it even more stressful than undergrad was?

yeah, especially when you realize that schools have stopped sending out interview requests. DAMN YOU MIT! DAMN YOOUUUUUUU! /shakes fist menacingly in the air before falling to the ground in pose of anguish.

alternatively, i can take the jerry springer approach and shout “yall don’ know me! yall don’ know me!” until they are frightened into submission.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Really, I have no more comments.

haha YA’LL DON’T KNOW ME!!!

i like that.

i would like to dedicate my screaming to rockefeller for making me wait and watch other people get accepted. JUST SEND ME A REJECTION so i can at least sleep!!!^#&@!^#^@!&#^@!&#%^&@#%&#@^&(&!!!

Haha, UCSD is doing the same thing to me… Just send the reject so I can get on with my life.

Aaaaahhhhhadlkfjaidnahg;lkjf;laksdjflaskdjkkkkksdfasdfas…kikhp!

~!@#$%^&~!@#$%^&~!@#$%^&~!@#$%^&~!@#$%^&*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I just want this to be over and have grad school start so I can have something interesting to do and find friends. I’m so bored and lonely. Ugh.

GAHHH… it’s so frustrating to check my email every 15 minutes, and have it be empty every time. I’m hoping the story will be different a week from today…but today is GAHHH

to idundidit:
same for me…my blood pressure rises when I get an email, rises even high when I find it is just an advertisement…

whoa, what programs and schools are you guys talking about? interview requests?

Haha, some programs, including biology/biomedical science PhD programs, will interview an applicant before making an admissions decision. Notably excluded from this torture are engineers and sometimes science (chem, physics) programs, among others.

Does anyone know if foreign languages tend to interview vs. not interview? I would bet they really want to evaluate people on as personal a level as possible…

Also, for all of you who can’t help yourselves, I HIGHLY recommend thegradcafe.com - not only the results page, but the forum. It’s fantastic! You will be able to waste hours.

you bring up a good point ecnerwalk, why can’t biomedical phd programs just ACCEPT people??? (except for harvard bbs and rockefeller of course, who i have yet to hear from…) WHY???

i know it’s for the best to find the best fit but #&(@#&@#&(@#&(@$^^(#^@!(#&^ i just want to KNOW where i’ll be living this time next year!!! HWY#!(@(!^#&&@&@&@&()&@&@*()

i’ll have to check out thegradcafe’s forum, lylek!

I hate knowing that someone else got accepted and i didnt get any kind of letter. At least give me a reject so i can have peace of mind and go on with my life!

when people grant you an interview request without accepting you, can you assume that you’re accepted?

I always go to thegradcafe.com because then you know if school X has started rolling out admissions.

I think the Math PhD admissions decisions should start being sent out in the next 2 or 3 weeks, so I just hope I can get one acceptance right out of the gate so I don’t wait around like a junkie until late March.

ecnerwalc3321: No, you can’t, but there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be accepted. The number varies from program to program, but it’s around 50-80% for most, I think.

Not always true. I had to interview in order to be admitted here at Caltech in engineering.

I remember how UC Berkeley didn’t send me a response to my application until the end of April, about a month and a half after I had already heard from everyone else. I thought they had lost my application. :(
