lots of other kids from my hs are applying. most are ranked worse than i am, tho. but a few are applying ed, i think.

essays: hard to tell. I'm an excellent writer (I know, that made me soudn like a jerkhole), but they might not be amazing. we'll see.
interview:i'm not antisocial or anything, but i'll probably get nervous. we'll see (again!)
recs: ap physics techer, eng teacher, counselor, field hockey coach. all love me. two are good but generic. two are good and specific.(the eng. teacher and counselor) eng. is prolly awesome, but i haven't read it.

I think that's it. Be as mean as you want to be. Seriously. I probably won't cry, so it's okay.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Oh, I and I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. Wow. That wasn't funny at all. It was in my mind. I tried. I should stop, because my fingers are getting cold. I think I have that thing where your fingers are always freezing. I should stop being schizophrenic now.

Username: I don't see why you wouldn't get into Tufts. Your SATs are great, your rank is good, and you are obviously very involved with ECs. Is Tufts your first choice? Are you applying anywhere ED?

It's one of my first choices. I'm trying not to have a first choice, that way I don't get uber disapointed if/when I get rejected. I applied EA to Yale.

Well, if you don't get into Yale, I certainly think you can get into Tufts RD.

The secret to getting into Tufts is the SMFA LOL!

^ ^ A painful laugh was had, Snuffles. Thanks?

oh... thanks lolabelle :)

Bummer about that 780 in math, and missing sophomore year of orchestra....

I am kidding.

bump. mainly because a friend of mine who is really awesome just got flat-out rejected ED. so I'm tweaking out a little. thanks, guys

O.k snuffles - that comment was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. :-)

Username - I don't think you are going to have any trouble getting into Tufts.
Good luck with Yale too.

ugh I was deferred from yale. everyone from my school was. Thanks, though

I'm sorry you were deferred from Yale. I would have thought that you would have been accepted. Your SAT scores were amazing. I've heard about some other super qualified candidates that were deferred too. I think you might have a good chance in the spring. Good luck with Tufts RD. :-)

Unless you screw up on your applications, or there's a hidden factor that you didn't post, Tufts should be an easy safety school for you. (Of course you already knew this before you made this thread)

As for schools like Yale, stats only "qualify" you to be admitted, since GPA cap at a 4.0 unweighted and SATs only go up to 2400. It's the ECs, essays, and other factors that will actually earn you an acceptance.

Jacksonmom--Thanks :) There were 6 people who applied EA from my (northeast public) HS, and we were all deferred, including one with a sibling at yale, a 4-generation legacy, and a urm. The same thing happened last year... it's okay I guess, it's Yale, you know?
ClutchBaller--Tufts isn't a safety for anyone. I agree with you on Yale, though--it's kind of a shot in the dark.

I'd say you have a good chance. Just approach tufts as you would any other prestigious school that you're interested in: make it clear that you're interested and make sure that you somehow stand out from the applicant pool.

Sure it is..

Theoretically, the perfect applicant(2400 SAT+4.0 GPA+Daughter of the President+Black+#1 ranked tennis player in the world+Author of 5 best-selling novels+etc.) would consider any school her safety school.

As for Tufts, I cannot recall anyone with higher than a 4.0 weighted GPA from my high school not get in in recent history, and usually there are 15-20 applicants with a 4.0+ who apply here every year.

I usually don't reply to these chances threads, but you're stats are very similar to what mine were (except with a lot less science and more English/History). I was also deferred from Yale (and eventually rejected) but got into Tufts (which was my first choice anyway - I only applied to Yale because it was EA instead of ED and I wanted to use it to gauge my chances at other schools)

thanks, sam927. yeah, I didn't want to do ED anywhere. I do like Yale, and I would definately love to go there, but if I got into both Yale and Tufts then I'd have a decision to make.

Is Tufts your second-choice?
