I am having problem in Chemistry...freaking difficult class. The first day we had 35 students..now after two tests we have 16 left. Next test is on wednesday...hope I get a good grade. How about you guys? how are you doing in your classes?

Im doing ok, Economics is really killing me though. I got a 55 on the last test, but thanks to his great grading scale thats a D. I only have to get an 85 in the class to get an A, maybe thats why the class is so hard.

i am struggling with chem too, fei. i have a test on tuesday and believe me there are only 10people in my class.

Hurray for quarters! (I'm three weeks in to quarter three. :P)

Doing well so far!

I'm doing horrible in Chem. There were 30+ students on day 1. There are 8 left. I have a test on Wednesday which I think is going to be pretty easy, and I'm hoping to make an A. But chem final exam has me shaking.

Virginia2004, wow, what a curve. I've never known economics to be that tough. Is it calculus based?

Chem is always like that. Some math classes are like that, too. Last semester my diff eq class started out full, and by the end you could fit at least 15 more students in the class.

I am carrying all A's so far this semester, Orgo I & lab, C++ & Linear Algebra. Two more weeks.

-A

doing well in all classes SO FAR...let's just hope it stays that way...

i'm a math/science person so chem is my best class right now....but something about Greek/Roman Myth could end up killing me...

wow you people have extremely small classes.

Bio and chem are the weedout courses in my school as well.

We started with a few hundred students in each of those. Eventually lost a hundred or so students. but the lectures are still large, unlike you guys! small classes are good.

Thats what I was thinking, yeah Chem is hard, we started with 460, down to about 320 or so...

Biology II is also difficult...

Considering how many classes I missed this semster (sick and school travel), I am doing exceptionally well :D

Yea, my chem class is huge as well. Though I really don't think I'm doing as well as I should be, surprisingly my grade so far is an A, while the average for the previous tests has been in the C/D range. Other than chem, I suffered a bit with writing and programming, especially the programming class. Nothing too tragic but I don't think I'm getting As for those. Physics and Cal III I pulled through (or I think I am) with a breeze. So basically I'm expecting 3 As and the others are not yet certain.

18 credits of nothing but A's I hope. Just got to show up for the rest of the semester. Which has been hard lately... I think the allnighters are catching up to me. Good luck to all!

All A's. {white space}

goin for the 4.0

itd be great, considering my admission to UIUC is contingent on my spring grades.

how big on avg are your classes? and do you think class size makes a difference with respect to grades? the intro classes i.e. intro psych get as big as 1000 students, while my seminar class has around 25

my chem class does not grade on a curve despite having 300+ kids.

Grades are determined by a set formula. We work on a scale of 400. Obtaining 370 or above will get you an A...etc.

that's awesome, we have bell curve for sure!

Hey kkl230 that's exactly what we are using for chem, but instead of 400, I think we have around 600 points summed up of varies tests, quizes, hw sets etc. It's basically an absolute scale as my professor calls it.

Around 3.8 gpa as opposed to last semester's 4.0
