You don't ever want to attend summer school. I'm sure about it.

Here's why im in it: Switched my class math teachers the second semester, and the teacher was awful. I ended up with a C, but because I wanted to do better, so I dropped it, and said "well, I can just take it in summer school and it should be easy."

Here's what my day consisted of:
-7 straight hours of math of which we covered a chapter in one day.
-Took a test over it towards the end of class.
-If I needed to sterotype the people there. I would say it was a mix of the popular kids and the white kids acting like their black.
-Average IQ I would say, had to be very very low.

-One kid wanted to get in a fight with me, just because he was trying to look cool in front of his friends. I didn't even know the kid.

So now I have 1 out of the 10 days done. Along with 9 more test.

Conclusion:

Don't take summer school.

well kinglin, you summer sound serious. I went summer school and all we did was watch movies.......its ecomonics and poltics, and we watched the fast and the furious, because it relates to the subjects......:)

Yah, Kinglin, summer school sucks. I've never enrolled in summer school, but my sister and, recently, a friend at my high school did. They show two different aspects of summer school.

In my sister's case, I thought it was a waist of time because during the next summer she would have to enroll in summer school again. The classes were child's play for her. She had/has a learning disability which summer school and her current school didn't really address properly. Luckily, she will not be in summer school this summer.

In my friend's case, summer school is quite serious. It's held at my high school where my friend will have one-on-one help or be in a small group of students taught by a teacher. (s)he will be taught in the subject(s) (s)he failed. At the end, my friend will take a cumulative test covering everything (s)he learned. Unfortunately, if (s)he doesn't pass this test, my friend is not allowed to return to my school. Another downside is that my friend has to pay a huge sum of money even though she didn't ask to attend.

i've been taking summer school through my district every summer since the summer after 8th grade. I did it to get required classes out of the way so that i could fit in more important classes. most years i just took one session (5 hrs a day, 5 days a week, for 3 weeks), but one year i took 2 sessions. I've had to deal with the same sort of kids the op did, but seriously, one 10 day session is nothing.

my district restricts the classes one can take for summer school if he did not fail. For example I cant take physics this summer, only personal fitness...

I loved summer school. It was a bit annoying listening to a teacher go on and on about one thing the whole day, but i would take summer school over reg school anyday. It was faster and more to the point, so I learned quick and easy. Plus the calculator games were entertaining. The kids were snobby and dumb, to say the least, but better spend a month with them than a whole year. I think you have it pretty easy but I'm curious as to how you fit a whole course into 10 days?

We are doing a semester of math in 10 days. We cover a chapter which would take approx. 3 weeks, and cram into one day. Today we ended up having ten worksheets, along with a test of the entire chapter in one day. I honestly wish math was like this. Because the stuff would still be fresh in my head for when I take the test. And I also like how it's accelerated.

exactly i loved the fast pace.. wow we did 2 to 3 chapters a week for about 6 weeks. we would have a lot of hw... and the teacher checked. Even then it was a great learning experience. Not to scare you or anything... honestly I laugh about it now.. but towarsds the end of the class... i remember dreaming about solving for x...lol i was so focused..i was actually doing algebra in my sleep.

Summer school at my school offers both remedial and original credit classes. I took my two semesters of PE in summer school and it was fun because the people there were smarter than the people normally in a PE class. Lots of people take PE in the summer to get it out of the way so they can take more AP classes during the year, so in my class of about 80, I already knew at least ten people from school or orchestra.

It also rained alot so we couldn't run, and instead we watched sports related movies. Better than running, though very boring. I hate Sandlot.
